Aspire K4 Quick Start Kit Review
Review: Aspire K4
Manufacturing Quality
The manufacturing quality of the Aspire K4 is good. Its not the most impressive vape Ive ever used in terms of features, but its not bad for a portable starter kit. One of the most limiting aspects is the complete lack of power and temperature flexibility, but that is pretty normal for a starter kit.
This also has an internal battery. I know people have very strong and differing opinions regarding the merits of internal batteries, but Ill admit that they are growing on me. Some of my favorite vapes these days have internal batteries. The key is making them sufficiently large and adding in extra features like overcharge and temperature protection.
The 2000mAh battery isnt terrible for the size, and the vape does have safety features. But there is one thing it lacks that is pretty disappointing: 2A charging. If Im going to have to charge a device, I want it to charge as fast as possible.
The tank is also good, although the design is a little dated these days. While it fills from the top and has adjustable airflow, these features are not created equally across all tanks. For example, the airflow ring doesnt lock into place so it is easy to bump and change. And to fill it, you still have to unscrew the entire top. You also have to drain your tank completely to access and change the coils.
Flavor Quality
The flavor that this tank and coil puts out is excellent. I really wasnt expecting much, but Id say it easily outperforms other Cleito coils that Ive tried from Aspire. On that note, the vapor quality was just great in general. Big, satisfying clouds that taste great. Very impressive for such a simple unit. People who use 510 cartridges tend to prefer the CCell Silo.
Just remember that you cant do anything to change the performance other than adjust the airflow – which is as wide open as you can get if you want it to be, by the way.
Power Flexibility
This doesnt have any power flexibility at all. You cant adjust the wattage or temperature, it just delivers a fixed voltage based on the charge level of the battery. With vapes like this, its important to remember that the performance can drop off quickly once your battery slips below half charged.
The only way that you can change the wattage is by changing the resistance of the coil you use. With this kit you only get two of the same coils, but there are other Cleito coils that will work with the tank if you want. I personally havent tried any that I would recommend over the included ones though.
Ease of Use
When you have everything set up, using it is very easy. It only has one button, after all!
I found filling the tank and changing the coils inconvenient, though. The more I use tanks that have quick access for filling, the more I dislike tanks that require you to remove the entire top. This isnt a deal breaker, but it does make it less enjoyable to use.
The same is true for having to have the tank empty to change the coils. I dont want to have to finish out a tank with poor-performing coils, but I dont want to have to deal with dumping the juice out either.
Again, these are inconveniences – not reasons to avoid the tank in and off themselves.
Portability
The portability of the kit is good. The size is small enough that it fit in any of my pockets comfortably. I didnt have any problems with leaking either.
A fully charged battery can get me through most of a day. Im not the heaviest vaper though, so you may find you need to charge more frequently.
Overall Experience
Ill be honest, I feel pretty indifferent about the Aspire K4 Quick Start Kit. I cant really take a firm stance one way or the other on it.
On one hand, I really enjoyed the vapor production. The flavor was the best part about the entire kit, and the cloud size was more than respectable. I was able to get both direct lung and mouth to lung draws thanks to the adjustable airflow, although it performs better for direct lung draws.
There are several reasons that I hesitate to recommend this despite the great vapor production. Surprisingly, not having power flexibility isnt one of them. Im used to this in starter kits. As long as they perform well, I can look past it.
Its the slow charging and inconvenient tank design that I dont like.
These may seem like minor complaints. Let me just say that if youre planning on this being youre only vape, these are more important than you might otherwise think. Nothing is worse than going to grab your vape and finding out that it still isnt fully charged. Considering you want to keep the charge higher to maintain performance, youll be charging this relatively frequently too.
If you want something extremely simple, check out the Kandypens Rubi and if you are looking for a mod style kit to start with we recommend the Vaporesso Revenger.
