Today we’ll be reviewing that Ikonn 220 with the ELLO mod. The iKonn 220 comes from Eleaf and is available in 6 different color options. Eleaf has been making vape mods for quite long time and with this model they have added a few very practical features which we will touch on throughout this review. In this review we will go over the manufacturing quality, the flavor quality, the power flexibility, the ease of use, and our overall assessment of the iKonn 220 and the Ello atomizers. Be sure to check our vape buyer’s guides for important information to consider before making your first purchase.
Review: iKonn 220 with Ello Kit
The manufacturing design and quality of the iKonn 220 and Ello are pretty good. The design allows for easy cleaning, all parts of the tank can be taken apart. The atomizer base, the HW coil, the glass cylinder, the top cap and the mouthpiece. The tank has been built with a retractable top fill system where you can quickly fill it without having to remove or place anything down – very practical design.
The functionality of the display is also something to touch on, you can switch between the various interfaces – there is the puff interface, seconds interface, and current/amp interface.
The iKonn 220 and the ELLO atomizer are both made with durable quality materials. Eleaf has been in the vape business for a while and knows that the best materials need to be used to create quality products.
The options and quality that you have with the iKonn 220 and the tanks that go with it are pretty customizable. The ability to adjust the airflow on the ELLO tank is very simple – just the twist of its base.
There are 2 different size ELLO’s that you can choose from when ordering the iKonn 220. You can get the 4ml or 2ml atomizer. An additional option with the tank system is that it comes with two drip tips – one with a tapered shape and the second with a wider design for increased airflow.
First I’ll touch on the cloud production which was pretty good (best with the HW4 coil). The flexibility of the device allows you to give it a personal touch and use it according to your own preferences of the diverse components and temperature range. The flavor quality is above average and between the 2 coils that come with the basic package the HW3 coil delivered the best flavor.
There are 2 other coils that you can order with the iKonn 220, and we found that the HW2 coil is by far the best if your after flavor, but at the same time is the weakest in vapor production.
The iKonn 220 with ELLO comes with 2 new HW coils. The first is the HW3 Triple-Cylinder 0.3ohm head and the second is the HW4 Quad-Cylinder 0.2ohm Head for better cloud production. This vape has a resistance range of 0.05-1.5 ohm (tc modes) and 0.1-3.5 ohm (vw mode). The temperature range is from 100－315℃/200－600℉(TC modes) and the iKonn runs off of dual 18650 batteries capable of outputting a maximum of 220 watts. So overall this is pretty impressive and can generate some decent vapor production.
The iKonn 220 has a few solid features that are pretty key that unless read here might actually go unnoticed. The iKonn 22 has dual circuit protection that protects that battery from over charging, over current circulation and over discharging – it has been designed to be resilient to bad use.
The iKonn 220 is a simple to use straight forward device, you shouldn’t have any troubles picking it up and knowing how to use it. The two external batteries get placed into the bottom of the mod, your liquid goes in the tank (the top of the tank slides open to give you access), you can choose your preferred heat setting using the plus and minus buttons and can easily adjust the airflow by turning the base of the tank – this will allow you to take bigger draws.
The iKonn 220 will be very familiar to people who have used a similar device in the past and as we mentioned will be very easy for beginners to learn how to use very quickly. The device comes with a user manual if you need a bit of guidance.
The portability of the iKonn 220 is actually pretty impressive. Not only does the device run off of external rechargeable batteries but the device itself can be used as a power charging station to charge your cellphone or other devices capable of being charged via USB.
The slim and short size make this very easy to carry, whether that is in your pocket or hand. It’s also built well enough to carry in a bag without worrying about it breaking, especially since the tank is contained inside the base.
Overall the time spent using the iKonn 220 was pretty good, we were impressed with the devices flexibility and option choices from the coils, atomizers, airflow adjustability, external batteries to the display options and temperature range.
It seems that the iKonn 220 touches on all the important aspects of what people generally look for in a vape and Eleaf did a pretty good job at covering them all. There are not many portable vapes that double as a power bank and even fewer that allow you to upgrade your devices firmware. All these features and the overall build quality of the iKonn and ELLO atomizer make this device a pretty solid deal.
Those of you who may think this is too much vape for you but also want something with a decent wattage range and great tasting vapor, be sure to check out the Coolfire IV 100W. And for those who want a vape that is more portable we highly recommend the Vaporesso Target Mini.
