Kandypens Donuts Wax Pen Review- Gonuts!

Allow me to oversimplify the different types of people who enjoy vaping for a minute and divide them into two groups: the cloud chasers and the flavor chasers. While there is plenty of room for people who like a mix of both, let’s get one thing out of the way from the beginning of this review: the KandyPens Donuts is a vaporizer for flavor chasersIf this interests you, read on to get the full scoop on this vape… also if this is your first wax pen be sure to check out our Buyers Guide for helpful info and tips.

Review: Kandypens Donuts

How it Works

The Donuts vaporizer works just like every other wax pen. There is only one button, and you click that button five times to turn it on. This is pretty much industry standard at this point. To cycle through the three temperature settings, you just click the button three times. Again, pretty normal.

The KandyPens Donuts gets it name from the style of atomizer that provides the vapor. Most wax pens will have rods with coils wrapped around it. When you look into this, you’ll see a ceramic element in the shape of a donut.

KandyPens aren’t the first to use this style, and it doesn’t actually change how you use it all that much. There are both good and bad things about donut-style atomizers, and we’ll go over them below.

Temperature Flexibility

Temperature flexibility isn’t great. There are only three settings, and none of them put out a ton of strong vapor. The highest setting will get it heated faster, but the end result of an average hit isn’t all that different between all three settings.

On the plus side, the battery is temperature controlled. The settings are 350°, 390°, and 430°, and the so-called “SloBurn” technology is in place to maximize the flavor output. In this respect the vaporizer does very well, so the lack of temperature flexibility is offset.

Vapor Quality

The flavor of the vapor is outstanding. The atomizer design and temperature settings combine to make this a vaporizer that is designed for flavor-chasers, as mentioned in the introduction to this review. If you plan on getting high-quality concentrate and want to be able to taste the differences between varieties, this may be a good choice.

On the other hand, you’ll want to keep looking if huge clouds are important to you for the same reasons.

Manufacturing Quality

Manufacturing quality is good overall. The pen looks sleek and is light and comfortable in your hand. Everything seems well machined, and there is no reason to think that this won’t last a long time with proper care and maintenance.

There is one problem that people may find annoying, and it’s related to the atomizer. Like I mentioned earlier, there are both pros and cons to the donut design. The major con that you’ll experience is a greater amount of splatter. This is made worse with the low temperatures because your concentrate won’t heat up to vapor as fast, leaving more time to bubble.

Overall this isn’t a huge problem, but it’s definitely worth mentioning.

Battery Life

The battery life is average, maybe slightly below. Size seems to be prioritized over having a long battery life in the Donuts pen.

This will last you for several sessions, but isn’t a great option if you want to be able to charge it once and use it all day or over several days.

On the plus side, the battery seems to charge completely in just 1 hour.

The size helps make this easy to carry, but the short battery life is rather limiting.

This is great for a night out, but I wouldn’t recommend it for overnight or multi-day trips where you don’t want to have to stop and wait for it to charge.

Ease of Use

This is definitely an easy wax pen to use, but then again, most are. You won’t run into any problems using the Donuts, even if you’ve never used a vaporizer before.

This is very beginner friendly and should only take a minute to get used to using.

Discreetness is an area where the Donuts definitely shines. The reason that this outperforms most is the fact that you won’t be dealing with huge clouds.

You’ll be able to enjoy solid sessions without much visible evidence of what you are doing. The small physical size of the pen also helps.

Overall Experience

Overall, there is definitely a time and place where it makes sense to use the KandyPens Donuts vaporizer. It’s not an all-purpose option like some, but it does what it was designed to do very well.

And it was designed to put out vapor with great flavor. The fact that it’s also discreet is a bonus.

The two big downsides are the small battery and the splatter-prone atomizer, but these are small problems that shouldn’t discourage you from getting one if the great flavor appeals to you.

If you like the KandyPens brand, you should also check out the Galaxy. If you are looking for something that offers similar vapor quality for a fraction of the price check out the Zeus Thunder 2.

Compatible with ZEUS Iceborn
This vaporizer is compatible with the ZEUS Iceborn, a revolutionary new vapor cooling system engineered by Canadian vape manufacturer ZEUSArsenal. The Iceborn is designed to produce cooler draws and bigger clouds when connected to your vaporizer. The vapour produced is ultra smooth and crisp and because of ice cooling, instead of water filtration, there is no loss of efficiency. The ZEUS Iceborn adds an additional 2 points to the vapor quality score of this vaporizer and is a highly recommended vaporizer accessory.
