The last few weeks have been a busy time on the vape market. Some new and promising products have entered the scene and as usual, we had to put it under the loop. A few days ago we did the PAX Vaporizer Review while today it’s the Puffit’s turn. The PUFFiT Vaporizer is another ultra-portable unit that is priced in the same pricerange as the Magic Flight Launch Box.
Before we start the review, check out the PUFFiT Vaporizer Unboxing video:
PUFFiT Vaporizer Review
First thing you notice when you get the unit is the great packaging. I usually don’t comment on packaging but the guys at discrete vape did a good job. Personally I still prefer Arizer’s approach, were they spend next to nothing on the packaging and put all the manufacturing dollars into the unit itself. That being said, we all love nice, out of the box units that look distinct. In general it looks like a standard inhaler, which definitely adds to the Puffit’s discreteness score. The unit seems relatively sturdy and the cap is the only removable part.
The Portable Vaporizer is automatically turned on by removing the mouthpiece cap. This is a nice feature as the unit is triggered by the magnetic lid being taken off. To fill the device one simply removes the cap above the heating chamber and fills the chamber right to the top.
To set your temperature there is a little dial on the side of the mouthpiece. There are 8 heat levels supposedlybetween 120 and 220 degrees celsius. With a unit at this pricerange we find it hard to believe that it has a temperature measuring setup. In fact it seems more like the unit has a timer. So when you set the heat at lets say 5, it will allow heating to be on for a specific period of time. This is not the best system for a vaporizer, but it gets the job done. We found these settings to be a tad misleading, as no temperature setting is high enough to really vaporize at except the last one (Level 8). We also presume it doesn’t get hotter than 200 degrees, despite claims of reaching 220 degrees at Level 8.
To start the heating process, press the bottom cap into the unit and hold for 2 seconds. A red LED will show you when the unit is heating. Once the unit reaches the desired temperature the light will turn green, which gives you the go-ahead to start vaping. You have to go through this process a few times at the onset to make sure you get decent vapour. Here is a Video to show the heating time of the PUFFiT:

Now let’s talk vapor. We started our test at level 7 or 200 degrees. If you just started the unit up, it is best to let the unit go through 4-5 heating cycles before you start drawing from the unit. The vapor was decently average. You will be able to take one large, long draw before having to reheat the unit. That being said, the PUFFiT is called that for a reason. Our assumption is that this unit is meant to be portable “inhaler” type vaporizer, that you take “puffs” from every so often. Overall, you will get anywhere between 4-8 decent draws out of each bowl and battery charge before you are running low. In that sense, it is just like an inhaler.
What to Expect
The PUFFiT is meant to be an alternative to the Magic Flight Launch Box, because they are both ultra-portable, low battery power and low cost portable vapes. When you look at it in that light, this vape has comparable feature. And where it really shines is in the discreetness category. This vaporizer really does look like an inhaler, so if you will be vaping mostly outdoors and/or in public areas, this is the perfect vape. In terms of portability this Handheld Vaporizer is right up there with the best of them. In addition to looking like an inhaler, it’s also just as light and just as small.
We did find at the unit gets quite hot to the touch at the top, after 5-6 draws. So we do not recommend using this vaporizer without the silicone cover on the top.
Overall, the Puffit is an uber discreet unit that is perfect for long, one-time draws primarily for the outdoor connoisseurs who want to vape on the go. It is small, portable and produces decent vapour quality. At its price point, it is comparative to other vapes in its category, offering an element of discreetness that is unmatched by other brands. While other vapes may be small and light, this vaporizer is actually very well disguised.
Warning: Not Compatible with ZEUS Iceborn
This vaporizer is not compatible with the ZEUS Iceborn, a revolutionary new vapor cooling system designed to produce cooler draws and bigger clouds when connected to your vaporizer. The ZEUS Iceborn adds an additional 2 points to the vapor quality score of compatible units, so we highly recommend considering a whip-compatible vaporizer to take advantage of this stellar ZEUS accessory item. All compatible vaporizers will have a compatibility notice.
