As vaporizers continue to grow in popularity, many people who have never tried vaporizing are thinking of giving it a try and are therefore looking for a low cost unit that is very easy to use. Furthermore, there are many veteran connoisseurs out there who are looking for a low cost secondary unit to complement their existing vaporizer. The VaporGenie portable vaporizer perfectly fits that bill. It’s comparatively low cost and its ease of use makes it a fun little gadget for all vape fans. Today we will have a closer look at the unit.
How it works
The VaporGenie vaporizer is a small portable unit that looks and operates like a pipe. The way it works is very simple. One simply has to ignite a lighter above the heating chamber and simultaneously take a draw from the unit. By inhaling, one draws the heat from the flame into the unit in order to start the vaporization process. The secret to the genie is the patented ceramic flame filter. It stops the flame from touching your botanicals and mixes the hot air from the flame with cold ambient air. This allows the unit to reach “sweet-spot” vaporization temperatures of around 190-225 degrees. The trick is to figure out how long to hold the lighter over the chamber and also how long to draw. This takes some practice but can be figured out rather quickly.
Vapor Quality of the VaporGenie
In terms of vapor quality we honestly did not expect much at all from this unit. After all we were a bit skeptical of the whole idea of holding a lighter above the heating chamber. To be honest though, we were quite surprised as the Vapor Genie produced some acceptable vapor quality. It just took us a while to figure out how long to ignite the lighter and how fast/slow to inhale but once we “got it” the vapor was actually ok. However, in terms of flavor and also temperature control the Genie still lags behind other portable units. That is however normal as the cost is a fraction of the cost of a higher end portable vaporizer.
Temperature Control on the VaporGenie
Temperature control is quite tricky. Sometimes we held the lighter over the chamber for too long and we felt that we were close to combustion temperatures and sometimes we did the exact opposite. An experienced user will be able to adjust flame application accordingly so after a while you will get a hang for it.
Overall, this is a fun little gadget that produces decent vapor but the Vapor Genie is no substitute for other battery or butane powered vaporizers for individuals that look to make the shift to vaporizing. It’s great as an additional unit for someone who has a stationary unit at home and is simply looking for something when on the go or someone who is totally new to vaporizing and is looking for a low cost unit to give vaporizing a try. If this is going to be your first vaporizer, then you will enjoy it very much.
