We here at TVape have seen our fair share of pod-style devices to the point that our usual reaction to receiving and assessing a newly released product is to first spot any new and innovations or improvements over older designs. Review: Aspire Spryte

Aspire Spryte Review

Manufacturing Quality

We’re not sure if this intentional design choice by Aspire’s design team or just a mere fluke, but the Aspire Spryte manages to pull off a look that gives us an impression of what your regular pocket lighter might look like in 10-15 years into the future.

This might not sound like a good thing to you, but the visual design of the mod make give it a great balance of discreteness and style, something we previously thought not to be possible in such a small form factor portable device.

The top of the Aspire Spryte showcases a narrow drip tip, similar in diameter to your average beverage straw making it both comfortable for your lips and ideal in terms of flavor delivery. The kit also includes a protective cap that goes over the drip tip, a feature that we’ve noticed to be a mainstay in Aspire pod-style devices but still rare to non-existent with other manufacturers. A few airflow vents can also be found to the side of the Aspire Spryte ensuring the device stays properly cool even during frequent use.

Another usual feature on the Aspire Spryte is the use of physical fire button. Unlike most pod-style devices that use an air-activated sensor to fire the coils when taking a puff, the Aspire Spryte goes for the classic, tried-and-tested method instead which can be a plus for traditionalists or for vapers looking for a bit more security in ensuring that the device doesn’t fire when in storage. If you are looking for a 510-thread battery for oil cartridges we suggest checking out the Tronian Nutron.

The entirety of the Aspire Spryte is divided into main sections, the body of the mod which houses the integrated battery and its micro USB charging port, and the top of the device which is comprised of the refillable pod system with a detachable/replaceable coil head.

Flavor Quality

The Aspire Breeze was a hit in the market thanks to its well-designed airflow and strong flavor production we’re happy to report that the Aspire Spryte produces similar if not better results than its older brother. The relatively strong output of the Aspire Spryte is an outlier when compared to other pod devices with its quick and intense temperature ramp-up of the coils so you definitely won’t have to worry about flavor production feeling muted or lacking with this setup.

Another unusual yet welcome feature of the Aspire Spryte is its adjustable airflow ring located right underneath the pod allowing you to make minute adjustments to how loose or restricted each hit will feel. Airflow so far has been smooth and non-turbulent regardless of which setting we set it to which is always a good thing as far as efficient and effective airflow designs are concerned.

The kit comes with a regular BVC coil head rated at 1.8ohms and a BVC coil head for nicotine salts rated at 1.2 ohms. The regular coil head works well with freebase nicotine e-liquids and we’ve had no problem as well with the 1.2-ohm coil. Both wick e-liquid quickly without any leakage or dry hit whatsoever.

Like pretty much every pod device available right now, the Aspire Spryte has zero capabilities for variable wattage or temperature control. The Aspire Spryte fires up at a fixed output so there really isn’t much room for tinkering with vapor strength outside using e-liquids with higher nicotine content. Users who are interested in 510 thread cartridges for oil often prefer the Linx Hermes 3.

If you find that you’re not getting the throat hit you want out of the Aspire Spryte, using the regular 1.2-ohm coil head is always an option as the lower resistance lets the device fire up to a higher wattage compared to the included 1.8 nicotine salt coil head.Aspire Spryte mouth piece removed

While the Aspire Spryte does require to purchase your own e-liquids and subsequently fill the pod with them, doing so is hardly a difficult or time-consuming task. The pod or cartridge that comes with the Aspire Spryte holds up to 3ml of e-liquid, more than any other pod system available in the market today.

This means that frequent refills are a non-issue and something that you won’t have to deal with when using this device. A small con though is the bottom fill mechanism that the pod uses which require you to remove the pod from the main body of the mod.

While not exactly difficult, it’s hard to see why Aspire didn’t simply opt for a top fill method from the get-go to make usage a lot more convenient.

Portability

With the dimensions of the Aspire Spryte measuring out to a mere 108*26*26mm, it’s not exactly the smallest out of all the available pod-style devices in the market right now. By no means does that mean that the device is large or unwieldy though; its still more compact than a majority of electronic cigarettes and can easily slip into your pocket or purse for easy storage.

The Aspire Spryte’s 650mAh battery served us quite well during testing as the fixed 12-watt output allowed us to go the distance in terms of battery life. Easily lasting for at least a full day’s worth of frequent vaping, you’ll hardly ever find the need to recharge the mod when on the go, although the device does support quick and easy charging via the micro USB port at the bottom.Aspire Spryte tank detached
