Vapor Quality

Davinci

The vapor quality for this unit is pretty good. The heating chamber is made of stainless steel and with a built in temperature display that gives you flexibility right down to the degree, you’re really given the chance to customize the flavor and density of your vapor – a definite plus. However, this vape loses points in this category for three reasons. First the airflow in the heating chamber is unmanaged, so stronger draws will result in thin vapor. Second, the unit has a plastic mouthpiece, which of course isn’t as optimal as glass due to slight flavor distortion. Last but not least is the short drawing stem, which results in very warm vapor. This problem has a great solution though for only an additional $19.99: the extended drawing stem, as it is about three times the length of the original drawing stem that comes in the package. This extended stem will enhance your vaping experience, offering much cooler vapor. This additional accessory piece is definitely a worthwhile investment when purchasing the DaVinci, as it will kick up the vapor quality a few notches.

Solo

Solo VaporizerThis unit is yet to be beat in this category. Offering unbelievable vapor quality from such a tiny device is    simply magical. For those of you unfamiliar with Storz & Bickel products –  the vapor produced is smooth, smooth, smooth. Because of the advanced combo conduction and convection heating chamber with managed airflow and carefully crafted all-glass drawing stems, you can get impressive vapor quality: nothing but pure, smooth, cool vapor with every draw.

Winner: The Arizer Solo smokes the DaVinci in this category.

Manufacturing Quality

Davinci

DaVinci VaporizerThis unit was certainly designed with the end user in mind. The drawing stem (or flexi-straw as Karma likes to call it) is flexible, so it won’t break no matter how you bend it. The heating chamber is stainless steel, it comes with its own built-in cleaning brush, can vaporize both dry botanicals and oils (the only hybrid on the market), and boasts a secret storage compartment for  your spare batch of botanicals – genius (for when you’re out an about). And for those of you who love choices, it comes in three very likable colors: pitch black, ashy grey and botanical green. Designed in the US and selling successfully for almost one year Karma definitely thought-through the release of this vape. What’s the downside? This unit is manufactured in China – so the defect rate is higher than other premium portables.

Solo

With an encasing of airbrushed aluminum, a stainless steel and ceramic heater and  all-glass drawing stems, you know you’ve bought quality when you hold it in your hands. The manufacturing quality screams class and durability, and Arizer offers an indisputable 2-year warranty to match. Assembled right here in Canada, Arizer has definitely put its name on the map of top-quality vapes in both the portable and stationary categories. This is a unit that will not disappoint, deservedly getting five stars across the board in this category.
Winner: With absolutely no complaints in this category, the Arizer Solo takes the cake for its quality Canadian manufacturing.

Temperature Flexibility

Davinci

DaVinci Temperature SettingsThe temperature flexibility on this unit ranges from 38° to 221°C, easily adjustable by the plus and minus buttons below the digital display. We found the maximum temperature to be a bit low for vaporizing oils and other botanical derivatives, but it still gets the job done well. The heat up time is also quick, going from 0° to 190°C in 1 minute and 45 seconds. Finally, with precise temperature control, you can set your unit to vape at exactly your desired temperature level – a feature rare amongst portable vapes.

Solo

Arizer Solo VaporizerThis unit has seven preset temperature settings ranging from 50° to 210°C, covering the range of temperatures recommend to vaporize at. It also heats up fast, going from 0° to 190°C (Level 3) in 1 minute and 35 seconds . At the end of the day, the unit’s temperature presets are quite convenient, but the lack of a digital display does not offer a completely customizable user experience.
Winner: The DaVinci is the winner here: the digital display and precise temperature control trumps the Solo’s temperature presets.

Portability

Davinci

This is a great portable vape. It is walkie-talkie in size, shape  and weight, making it super portable or as Karma likes to say: a perfect pocket vaporizer. The flexible drawing stem, robust exterior further adds to the portability of this unit. And let’s not forget the secret storage compartment! Meaning? You don’t need to walk around with spare anything…just grab your DaVinci and you’re ready to go. But everything seems to good to be true, right? Well, unfortunately there is one downside to this unit in this category: limited battery life. This vape will offer you 30-45 minutes of continuous vaporization on a full 3-hour charge at most, which is unfortunate if you are planning a long-weekend escape. Luckily, you can grab a DaVinci car charger to ensure your vaping sessions aren’t cut short. Definitely worth the money for those of you on the go, car chargers are only $19.99.

Solo

Solo Vaporizer CaseThis gadget is a tad wider and taller than Karma’s walkie-talkie vape, which for some makes it slightly (and we really mean slightly) less portable. However, the main points deduction for the Solo in this category is the glass drawing stem. But hey, you have to pay the price for the amazing vapor quality right? The glass stems are not a pain to carry around, they’re just more fragile, so you can’t toss your Solo in the trunk without a care in the world the way you could the DaVinci. That being said, the coolest vaporizer accessory around is the VapeCase (a perfectly compact carrying case with pre-cut foam inserts to secure every accessory). This case will guarantee the safe travel of your unit and if you’ve got it tucked away in this smell-proof, shock-proof, water-proof, everything-proof case. Plus, who wouldn’t want to look like a secret agent carrying around their unit! The price of the VapeCase is $49.99 on its own, but buy it with your vape and you’ll get 40% off! Want even more portability? Grab yourself a pack of tube caps, so that you can preload your drawing stems before heading out and cover them with the caps for quick, no-mess vaporizing functionality. It really can’t get any better than that. Or can it? We saved the best for last: this unit’s battery life is unmatched by any other portable on the market, offering a whopping 90 minutes of continuous vaporization on a full 4-hour charge. Awesome is all we have to say about that.
Winner: The Solo puts up a good fight, but the Davicni wins this battle. It really is a perfect pocket vaporizer, offering a lot of flexibility and on-the-go functionality.

Discreetness

Davinci

This vape isn’t called the ‘walkie-talkie’ vaporizer for nothing! Even the drawing stem looks like an antenna. The design is also super stealthy, so this is a unit you would feel very comfortable using anywhere quite discreetly.

Solo

It looks more or less like chubby remote and can easily be tucked away for quick discretion purposes. So, when not in use, this unit is considered to be quite discreet, but it ends up losing points in this category with the all-glass drawing stems, since they stick out of the unit (and are therefore not easily concealable).
Winner: DaVinci snags the winning title for discreetness with it’s ‘walkie-talkie’ design.

Overall Experience

Davinci

This is a premium vaporizer whose strengths are: temperature flexibility, portability and discreetness. If any or all of these factors are important to you, then this walkie-talkie vape will win your heart. Vaping when you’re out and about has never been so easy and discrete as it is with the DaVinici. We are proud to carry such a unique portable vape and would highly recommend it to our true on-the-go connoisseurs.
