Manufacturing Quality

One of the biggest departures that the Eleaf iStick Pico S makes from its predecessor is the big aesthetic overhaul its undergone. If you aren’t a fan of understated designs and prefer flashier race car-like aesthetics, then the Eleaf iStick Pico S should be right up your alley with bold lines and aggressive color combinations.

Adding to the mods flair is a set of RGB LEDs which you can configure at a moments notice, and while I’ve never been a fan of RGB devices, I can’t help but state that they’re tastefully done on the Eleaf iStick Pico S.

The battery compartment on the Eleaf iStick Pico S has also undergone an overhaul. Instead of the smooth and unibody design which was featured on the original Pico, the Pico S uses a separate compartment to house the battery, a unique design seen only on a few other (and much more expensive devices).

The iconic battery cap is still used but a touch of flair is now involved with some branding on top of the cap. Another major change is that while the original pico was physically incapable of utilizing atomizers larger than 22mm, the Eleaf iStick Pico S gives a bit more room in that regard, being compatible with tanks or RDAs as large as 26.5mm, a very welcome change.

While the firing button hasn’t changed much, the up/down buttons definitely have. Instead of the old placement which was underneath the device and quite hard to reach, the Eleaf iStick Pico S now uses a more standard placement right below the screen.

And speaking of the screen, it has surprisingly stayed mostly the same, which I suppose is to be expected of devices of this size. Nevertheless, the fonts are clearly displayed, and the screen still manages to remain comfortably legible even when viewed underneath direct sunlight.

Flavor Quality

The ELLO VATE tank that comes bundled with the kit does its best to ride with the big boys of vaping and doesn’t skimp on incorporating the latest trend in coil design. It looks like mesh coils are slowly becoming the standard when it comes to pre-built heads and the ELLO VATE is no exception.

While vapor production is more than satisfactory, the flavor leaves a bit to be desired. All the flavors are there and you can definitely taste them, but it definitely lacks a bit of “oomph” which you get more a thicker dual coil setup.

On a positive note, ramp up time on the Eleaf iStick Pico S is phenomenal and the wattage kicks up to your desired level almost instantly. Firing delay is practically non-existent which definitely ups the ante in creating a more reliable and satisfying vaping experience. Airflow on the ELLO VATE tank is excellent as well thanks to the fully adjustable airflow ring and smooth airflow design all throughout.

Another big change for the Eleaf iStick Pico S is the shift to a much higher power ceiling. Now with a maximum output of 100 watts, there are hardly and builds out there that should give this mod a challenge. Variable wattage mode works excellently on this device and is a big step up from the original Pico thanks to the relocated up/down buttons which are now found on the front of the mod instead of the bottom.

Temperature control is also available and offers support for vaping with nickel, titanium, and stainless steel coils. TC mode feels fairly accurate and vaping on it so far has hit the spot.

Another added bonus to the extensive capabilities of the Eleaf iStick Pico S is that its compatible with both 21700 and 18650 batteries, giving you lots of options when it comes to batteries. The increased compatibility with a larger array of atomizers is also another good thing to see here.

With support for tanks or RDAs that have a maximum diameter of 26.5mm, the Eleaf iStick Pico S should be compatible with a good deal of whats available in the market currently.

Despite its increased compatibility in many regards, the Eleaf iStick Pico S is just as easy, if not easier to use than the original Pico. A great contributor to this are the relocated up/down buttons as well as the sliding top cap design on the ELLO VATE tank which allows for quicker and even easier refills.

The interface is intuitive and uncomplicated, giving you easy access to the features of the mod with a simple three clicks on the firing button. The mod is cycled between its on/off state by pressing the fire button five times, helping you ensure that your mod is turned off for safe storage.

Portability

One might think that with all the added functionality to the Eleaf iStick Pico S, it wouldn’t be as tiny or compact as the original Pico, but that’s where you’d be wrong. With dimensions of merely 52.5mm * 28.5mm * 128mm (tank included), the Eleaf iStick Pico S is an easy fit into any pocket.

And while the battery life on this kit is already pretty great when using a standard 18650 battery, it’s possible to take it even further when using a 21700 cell that supports maximum mAh ratings of up to 4000, giving you literally days of vaping power.

Overall Experience

Progress is always a welcome thing, and in the case of the Eleaf iStick Pico S, it manages to progress in a way that can only be applauded. With more vaping wattage, more battery life, and a newer redesigned aesthetic, the Eleaf iStick Pico S can truly be touted as a worthy successor to one of the vaping’s greatest mods.
