Focus V Aero Review – The Avro Aero

How it Works

The Aero is rather simple to operate. Load your herbs into the chamber marked with a flame to indicate the bowl that will be heated. Pack with a medium-coarse grind and very lightly tamp your herbs down. Use three clicks of the button to turn the device on and adjust your temperature with the onboard buttons.

Once it gets up to speed, you are going to need to take a long smooth draw. The Aero has a pretty straightforward draw with little draw restriction which is nice, however, because it is pure convection it does take a longer draw length. 

Temperature Flexibility

With a temperature range between 80-240°C/176-464°F, which is adjustable in individual increments with the onboard display.

Full temperature control with feedback from a display is always welcome, and the highest temperature ensures pretty good compatibility with concentrates too! Thanks, Focus V.

Vapor Quality

Focus V promises us full convection, session heating style! Only a few vaporizers go for full-convection design as it’s pretty difficult to pull off effectively.

The Aero pulls it off but with some caveats. Smooth, draws that offer little draw resistance and decent cloud production are somewhat easy to achieve as long as you ensure to draw for about 15 seconds. After back-to-back sessions, the short mouthpiece does get a little warm on the lungs, but not when touching your lips to it which is a big plus.

Among the powerful and high-quality vaporizers on the market now, the Aero definitely holds its ground and offers a terrific experience. 

Manufacturing Quality

We are actually pretty impressed with overall quality of the manufacturing, it’s built well and sturdy. We liken it to the build quality of a crowd-favorite, the Arizer Solo II.

It feels great in the hand and we really enjoy the overall design of it. The mouthpiece also fits a 10mm male water piece natively which is also a nice touch. Also, the unit has a stir-tool built into the bottom, another win for Focus V!

Included in the box is a nice kit. Including the device itself, mouthpiece, stir tool, loading funnel, charger, glass chamber rings, user manual, cleaning tools, and box. This is a nice kit for what you get and we’re pleased with how Focus V pulls it off.

Battery Life

With a built-in 21700 battery featuring a juicy 4,700mAh to play with, you’ll be able to have a good handful of sessions before needing to top up.

You can expect between 6-8 sessions per charge before needing to top up. This is pretty solid and a big plus for those who use frequently.

Portability

Similar in size to the original Arizer Solo without a glass stem, it’s by no means tiny. Best left in a bag or large jacket pocket, we don’t think it’ll fit into any normal sized pockets without looking more than conspicuous.

With that being said, having two chambers loaded simultaneously makes having multiple sessions when on the go easier and reduces the need to fill another chamber. It’s not too big, but it’s certainly not small!

Ease of Use

The Focus V Aero is fairly straightforward when it comes to function and settings, but does have a bit of a learning curve when it comes to your draw.

Because the unit is pure convection and the sidewalls of the chambers do not heat at all, your draws need to be fairly long in order to maximize your vapor production.

Simply sipping on the Focus V Aero will yield mediocre vapor quality, it really needs a good haul.

Cleaning is quite simple with the Aero, as just the mouthpiece and chamber needs to be cleaned out. The mouthpiece disassembles into two parts which can be soaked in isopropyl alcohol to speed the process out. A cotton swab dipped in iso will do the trick to clean out the chamber as well.

Discreetness

As the Aero is a bit larger than normal, it may raise some suspicion. The stealth black design, however, lends some discretion in many situations and overall, many people may mistake it for a strange e-cigarette.

Expect it to raise some eyebrows when in use, however. 

Overall Experience

Overall, the Aero is a big hit to us! We absolutely love the dual chamber design, the vapor quality is top notch, the battery life is thick, and it feels sturdy! We’re incredibly satisfied with the Aero and can’t wait to use it more.

It may not be the best pocket companion where vapes like the Zeus Arc still reign king, however, it still takes up a small amount of carrying space and the dual chamber function is convenient for getting sessions in on the go!
