How do stationary and portable vaporizers compare in vapor quality? (31/10/2014)

Key to good vapor quality is airflow and temperature flexibility. When you are shopping, you should certainly pay attention to these two criteria.

·         Airflow:this can be easily managed.
o   If you have a vape that you inhale from directly, you just have to make sure to pull as slow as possible. The slow air flow will have more time to be heated by the heating element, which ensures that it is hot enough to generate nice and even vapor.
o   If you have a vapourizer that has forced air (fancy name for an inbuilt fan), then all you need to do is to set the fan to low speed.
·         Temperature flexibility: Having this feature available will depend on the vape you choose.
o   Some handheld vaporizers like the Magic FlightLaunch Box or the IOLITE don’t have temperature flexibility. Some other units heat to a preset temperature (WISPR for example) and others have to be manually calibrated, by holding a button for a specific amount of time (Thermo Vape for example). It is very difficult to get great vapor quality out of a vaporizer that doesn’t have a switch to set temperature accurately. So it is not recommended to pick such a unit if great quality of the vapor is something you want.
o   Another group of Portable Vaporizers actually do have accurate temperature setting options, like the Solo or DaVinci Vaporizer. These types of handheld vaporizers actually have a noticeable quality advantage in vapor taste.
o   The best vapor quality generally comes from Stationary Vaporizers that have some sort of digital temperature setting mechanism. Some units have manual dials, which also do the job (80% as good as digital displays).

The general rule of thumb is that Stationary Vaporizers have better tasting and thicker vapor. Since these units work directly with outlet power, they don’t have restrictions like hand held units do. In comparison however, you can’t carry around your outlet powered units.
To sum up, the ability to set temperature accurately will allow you to get better vapor quality. This is, based on our polls, something that 60% of our browsers look forward to.
