Manufacturing Quality

Wrapped in a premium looking carbon fiber finish, the iJoy Captain PD270 should definitely pique the interest of those who have a penchant for this type of design. It’s not all just about looks either.

The mod feels great to hold in hand thanks to its rock-solid construction that doesn’t produce any annoying rattling noises which are sometimes found in lower quality devices.

The battery trapdoor located at the bottom feels adequately secure and durable enough to keep your batteries in place even when considering the regular wear and tear that hinge type battery doors are normally subject to.

Polarity indicators on the battery door are thankfully clearly marked and very hard to miss, so it should be no problem whenever the need comes to swap out the batteries. Lots of battery venting can be found at the bottom as well, which helps a lot in keeping the batteries nice and cool. Up top is the spring-loaded and stainless steel 510 connection.

The off-center positioning luckily doesn’t get in the way of atomizer compatibility and the iJoy Captain PD270 can support tanks and RDAs up to 30mm in diameter without any overhang. The connection between mod and tank is also solid without any annoying hiccups such as jumps in resistance giving you a hassle-free and smoother vaping experience overall.

The iJoy Captain PD270 features a fire button located to the upper portion of the mod’s side. Tactility is plenty as the button gives a satisfying click whenever pressed letting you know the exact moment the device activates. The display on the iJoy Captain PD270 is surprisingly small especially in relation to the size of the entire mod, but it does manage to convey all important info despite its tininess.

Text on the screen isn’t the clearest especially when compared to newer and higher resolution offerings, but it’s still plenty legible, even under direct sunlight.

iJoy Captain power controlPower Flexibility

Thanks to the max output of 234 watts, the iJoy Captain PD270 is capable of firing pretty much any build out there. Wattage ramps up quick making exotic custom coils more than viable for this kit. Firing delay is minimal to non-existent thanks to the custom chip built in.

For vapers who don’t mind a little sacrifice in battery life, the kit also comes with an adapter that lets you use your favorite 18650 batteries for a little decrease in the overall weight of the kit.

When it comes to features, the iJoy Captain PD270 doesn’t disappoint either. Aside from variable wattage, the iJoy Captain PD270 also supports temperature control for nickel, titanium, and stainless steel wire.

TC feels accurate and responsive enough considering this kit is a much cheaper option compared to the more expensive DNA mods which are known for their accurate temperature control.

The iJoy Captain PD270 despite its numerous capabilities is easy enough to use, even for the absolute beginner. While temperature control does have a learning curve which mostly advanced vapers will want to bother with, vaping in power mode is simple and straightforward.

A simple five clicks on the fire button turns the device on and off, and three clicks gives you access to the onboard menu which is easily navigated thanks to the intuitive user interface.

Setting up and maintaining the included Captain S tank is also relatively easy and seems to have been designed for absolute ease of use. The threadless coil heads easily lock in place which can be a godsend as sometimes it can be tricky to rotate the coils on and off especially when they’re soaked in e-liquid.

Refilling is just as simple thanks to the top caps mechanism that lets you open it with a simple push, sliding the top cap off to reveal the e-liquid filling ports.

Portability

Considering that the iJoy Captain PD270 is a dual 20700 device, it manages to keep the overall size to a minimum. The mod easily fits into regular sized pockets for easy storage and transport. Ergonomics are acceptable and the rounded edges definitely help out in producing a more comfortable hand feel, but the boxy design makes it a bit less satisfying to hold, especially for those with smaller hands.

Battery life is an absolute non-issue for the iJoy Captain PD270 thanks to the dual 20700 batteries it holds. You can expect to get around 2-3 days of use depending on your wattage settings and frequency of use, making it the ideal mod for vapers who hate having to recharge or swap out batteries frequently.
