Innokin Liftbox Bastion Review – Auto Squonk

Straight out of the box, the first thing you’ll probably notice is that the Innokin Liftbox Bastion isn’t packaged like a kit. There is no bundled atomizer with this device, and this decision makes sense since its highly unlikely that this will be any newbie vapers first vape related purchase.

The Innokin Liftbox is geared towards more seasoned vapers who have experience building their own coils.

Available in 5 colorways which include a slate gray, and a satin black, Innokin did a good a job in regards to the final color finish on this device. The front panel which also acts as a battery door is slightly textured offering a nice grip when held in the palm.

Although the magnets that hold the battery door in place are strong, there is still some play experienced and the battery door does move about a bit when enough pressure is applied to it. While this doesn’t affect how the secure the battery is, it might irk some of the more nitpicky vapers out there.

The firing bar on the side of the Innokin Bastion is also home to an LED light that serves as an indicator of the battery’s and device’s status. There is some noticeable rattle with the firing bar in the test unit, although Innokin has assured that final retail models will have accounted for this resulting in a more solid feel overall.

For carbon fiber lovers, the back panel should right up your alley. Instead of the typical cheap carbon fiber stickers that most manufacturers use to decorate their products, the Innokin Liftbox Bastion makes use of a genuine carbon fiber panel which feels great to the touch and gives the device a wonderful premium feel.

Although it has to be noted that while the panel is real carbon fiber, it is still stickered on to the device however the good news is that the adhesive shows no sign of weakening or peeling.

If you’ve been using big box mods with 510 carts it may be time to look for something smaller, most vapers tend to start with Tronian Nutron for their oil because its much more compact than a mod.

Thanks to the full bypass vaping mode of the Innokin Liftbox, power output is instant and consistent without any power fluctuations throughout each pull. This results in a cleaner and more consistent vape every time.

The built-in siphon tank does a great job of automatically pulling up e-liquid every time you take a drag off the atomizer ensuring that your wicks are always fully saturated with e-liquid.

One thing to note however is that the wicking is rather conservative so heavy chain vapers may have to take pauses between each pull to allow for the wicks to saturate properly lest you experience the dreaded dry hit. Users who are interested in 510 thread cartridges for oil often prefer the Vessel 510 thread battery.

Ease of Use

Operation of the Innokin Liftbox is simple enough. Three clicks on the firing bar to turn the device on and another three clicks to turn it off.

There aren’t any menu or up/down buttons to confused yourself with so there’s no need to worry about that. A simple press on the firing button while the device is on instantly fires the mod unleashing a good dose of vaping goodness.

But it should be mentioned that the quality of your vape is going to be largely dependent on your skill as a coil builder. While pre-made coils are available for RDA’s it still takes a little bit of vaping know-how to get them properly installed in your setup.

When it comes to cleaning or maintenance of the device, one minor caveat is that the internal siphon tank isn’t removable. So if you’re looking to give it a good cleaning, it’s best to be careful when rinsing out the tank and not get any of the surrounding components wet.

While its technically possible to remove the tank, it’s not easily done and instantly voids Innokin’s warranty. Refilling the tank is as easy as unscrewing the top cap off the mod and dripping down e-liquid into the large fill holes of the tank, then screwing the top cap back on.

In the end, Innokin has crafted a one of a kind and innovative new squonking device. While the design and execution might be still rough around the edges, it performs admirably well.

In the future, it would be nice to see improvements such as a removable glass tank for easier cleaning as well as options for bigger or more batteries for extended usage of the kit.

Neophyte vapers would do well to stay away from the Innokin Liftbox Bastion as there is a considerable learning curve required when initially setting up the device. For those who aren’t afraid of a challenge, or for more advanced vapers, the Innokin Liftbox Bastion is a nifty new mod that does something totally new and may forever change the face of squonking forever.
