Review: Joytech EVic VT
As we touched upon Joytech is one of the big boys of the vape community and their devices match the quality you’d expect from such brand recognition. The EVic VT has some weight to it, which is partly because of the massive 5000 mah battery but it’s also because of the all metal exterior. The weight feels nice overall and gives the unit a quality feel. The tank is nicely machined and fits flush against the unit. The display is bright, easy to read and the controls feel responsive. Overall the unit is really nicely constructed and should stand up to some wear and tear.
Joytech didn’t make a name for itself on looks alone, just a few puffs from the Evic VT and you will be able to taste the difference. Vapor from the EVic VT is smooth and flavorful and free of influence from the cotton or coils. The EVic also features variable temperature control which allows you to set the unit to a temperature you would like to vape at. The unit then adjusts the wattage and voltage to only allow the coil to reach the set temperature. If the device detects that the coil is going over the set temperature the power will be cut to the atomizer to stop the coil from burning the cotton wick. This helps eliminate the dreaded dry hit and can help save your coils if you let the juice run a little too low. It helps to provide the user with a tailored vapor session without having to concern yourself with wattage.
The Joytech Evic offers 60 watts of power giving vapers a large range to vape between. They provide you with a .2 and .4 ohm coil which will allow a little bit of flexibility with the wattage you will be vaping at. For the .4 coil we recommend between20 – 30 watts and for the .2 ohm coil you can go as high as 40 watts. We don’t recommend going much higher as it degrades your coil much faster and has the chance of burning the coil out altogether. This unit is great for starters offering enough flexibility out of the box to find your sweet spot, but not so much flexibility that you will feel lost.
The unit is fairly straight forward to use, the unit is a bottom fill tank which will require you to remove the tank before filling it. Once removed unscrew the buttom of the tank to expose the filling chamber. Carefully fill the chamber to the fill line and place the bottom back on the device. To turn the device on and off press the power button 5 times quickly, the LED will illuminate to indicate the unit is on. To change the wattage flick the control knob located on the top of the unit beside the atomizer. Where this device gets a little confusing is the menu controls which allow you to switch between wattage mode and variable temperature. Press the power button 3 times and the top number will begin flashing, flick the control knob to the right to cycle between variable temperature and variable wattage. When you reach the mode you desire press the power button once. We don’t love the control knob as it can be a bit confusing which way to flick it to get the unit to respond the way you want it. A simple up or down arrow would have sufficed and been a lot more clear. Without reading the instructions most people who have no idea how to change the mode of this device.
The eVic VT is a bit on the large side when it comes to a vape nowadays. The main reason is because the mod holds a 5000 mah battery which dramatically increases its size and weight. It will fit into a pocket but there will be a noticeable bulge unless you are wearing MC Hammer’s parachute pants. Also the weight of the device will make it hard to ignore. The aspect that does greatly affect this units portability in a positive light is also the thing that hinders it, the battery. 5000 mah is no joke and with our tests this vape did not run out of battery life for 2 days of moderate use. This is great for those who do not have easy access to a charger during the day but want to ensure their unit is always ready to rock. Lord knows the frustration you feel when you need to get in a vape session and you have no battery.
We must say that the Joytech Evic makes a great starter unit for those looking to make the switch from smoking or maybe stepping up from the pen-style vapes. If your main concern is battery life and solid construction than the EVic VT has you covered with its 5000 mah of battery, perfect for all day vaping. Unfortunately that menu navigation takes some learning and is not clear right out of the box which makes it not the most user friendly unit, but once you get the hang of it operating the EVic VT is a breeze.
