Kandypens has made quite a name for itself ever since it started as a crowd-sourced funding project. Since then it has become one of the biggest names in wax pens. Today we will be looking at a new unit offered by Kandypens, the Kandypens Mini. This unit offers a 2200mah battery, a ceramic plate atomizer, and 3 temperature settings for your vaping pleasure. But is this unit worth the price tag? Read on to find out. If this is your first time purchasing a wax pen, be sure to check out our Wax Pen Buyers Guide which is full of helpful tips of what to look for when purchasing your first pen.
Review: Kandypens Mini
This unit works just the same as the Kandypens Galaxy or any Kandypens for that matter. 5 clicks turns the device on and 3 clicks toggles between the 3 temperature settings.
Remove the mouthpiece to reveal the heating chamber and with the included tool load wax at the bottom of the ceramic chamber. Put the mouthpiece back on and press and hold the power button while inhaling to enjoy your vapor.
This unit features 3 temperatures which is pretty standard for Kandypens, there original Galaxy had 3 temperature and this one follows suit. This gives you a decent amount of flexibility with how you want to enjoy your vapor.
However we would have liked to see a little more innovation with Kandypens, there is not much to separate this unit from other wax pens out there. Especially with units like the Linx Hypnos Zero offering a revolutionary atomizer design and 4 temperature settings. Or the Source Orb 4 premium kit which gives you even more control with a whopping 8 temperature settings.
This unit features a ceramic pad atomizer, this style of atomizer takes longer to heat and heats more evenly. Because of this you get really good flavor from your vapor but won’t be able to achieve very large clouds.
If you are looking for a unit that shares the same style of atomizer but produces much better vapor and is a much slimmer design we definitely recommend checking out the Zeus Thunder 2. This was actually one of the first units to use this atomizer design which has now been borrowed by other companies.
We don’t quite know how we feel about Kandypens manufacturing quality. They certainly do a good job at making their units appear high quality, however if you dig a bit deeper you will find most of their units and parts are just rebranded from Chinese manufacturers on Alibaba. Case and point, does this wax pen look familiar to you.
These 2 units are identical in every wax besides the logoing of the device. We would hope that a company with the success that Kandypens has would begin to do some of their own R&D to come out with new and unique products. But it seems they are perfectly content rebranding units and selling them for outrageously high prices because of the logo.
So with that in mind it’s hard to say Kandypens units have any type of high-standard of quality behind them. They are simply cheap parts sourced from China, rebranded and sold at a higher cost. But hey, they’ve got good marketing, so we will give them that.
This unit featues a 2200mah EGO one battery, the a battery found on a vape pen named aptly “The Ego One”. The battery itself is pretty decent, it holds a decent amount of power and moderate users will not have to charge this unit for a couple days.
Even heavier users will enjoy the amount of time you get from the battery. Most pen units come with a standard 650mah battery so this is nearly 4 times the amount of juice.
This unit is roughly the size of a marker, so its perfectly portably and can easily fit in your pocket. Most Kandypens come with an included case, but with the Mini this is not so.
This is kind of a shame because the Kandypens packaging often is the best part about the unit. But the Mini does seem to be rugged enough to deal with some time in your pocket.
Like most wax pens the Kandypens Mini is really simple to use. 5 clicks turns it on and 3 clicks cycles between temperature settings.
Because the atomizer is a plate design rather than exposed coils it makes it very easy to load. Just remove the cap and use the included applicator tool to place the wax at the very bottom of the chamber.
Overall the Kandypens Mini falls a little flat in our eyes. It does what it says it does and does a decent job at it, but for the price that Kandypens wants for the device your better turning your eyes to units that you can’t find on Alibaba.
The Source Orb 4 premium kit is a perfect example of a quality pen that comes with a whole host of accessories and is made to a strict manufacturing standard. If you are going to spend your hard earned money, spend it on something worthwhile.
