The WISPR and IOLITE Vaporizers have been two very popular portable vaporizers over the last few years. They are both very convenient units that are able to produce some great vapor when you are out and about.
What makes them special is that they run on Refined Butane and not on electricity like most other vaporizers. Many people value this type of fuel over electricity because it does make the unit more portable. The main reason is that one is not reliant on an electricity outlet to power their vaporizer. If you have a can of Colibri Butane you will pretty much always be ready to refuel your IOLITE Vaporizer no matter how far away you are from electricity. This makes these units very popular with people in remote areas for camping or for people who enjoy the outdoors.
A lot of people ask me whether it makes a big difference as to which type of butane to use. All I can say is yes, it makes a huge difference. Although Purified Butane can be up to 10 times more expensive than regular butane, one definitely has to use the premium fuel for a whole plethora of reasons. To make things easier I will list the top “pros” for premium Colibri fuel compared to the regular gas.
Pros of Refined Colibri Butane
1. Less odor – Regular butane produces quite a considerable amount of odor. A catalytic converter, like the one in the WISPR and IOLITE Vaporizer, work a bit different than a regular lighter. Regular fuel has many impurities and will therefre release an odor. However refine fuel like that made by Colibri will not release any scent.
2. No foreign particles – Purified Colibri Butane is……well you guessed it……purified. This means that it is free of any foreign particles that may be found in any unpurified gases. These particles are bad for two reasons. First of all they are unpleasant while vaporizing and they distort the flavor of your vapor. Second of all, particles may clog up your unit as the catalytic converter only works properly when used with Refined Butane. Oglesby & Buttler may actually reject warranty claims if regular butane is the cause for a unit to malfunction. If you read the manual it will mention that “Purified Butane” is recommended.
3. More constant temperature – When using premium butane one can ensure that temperature in the heating chamber remains constant. IOLITE designed the unit to work with this type of fuel. Unrefined butane often burns unevenly and therefore may cause temperature fluctuations. Now believe me when I tell you that temperature fluctuations are not a good thing while vaporizing.
So what is the best fuel brand for Iolite Vaporizers? Any form of highly Refined Butane can do the job but in Canada, the only brand that you will be able to find without hiring a detective is Colibri Butane. It has zero impurities and will enable your Iolite to function perfectly. Therefore, if you want to be on the safe side, just go with Colibri Butane in the first place to make sure that your Iolite or WISPR Vaporizer stays functional and produces quality vapor over the long term.
