Suorin Air Review – Clear the Air

Updated: September 26, 2022

The Suorin Air just might be one of the most discreet pod-style devices to exist out there and that goes without even a modicum of hyperbole. While a good chunk of the vaping market has slowly shifted more towards ultraportables, the classic form factor that comes in varying flavours of “USB Flash Drive” is started to feel played out and might not offer the same level of stealth that it used to.

Editors Note: For those who are looking for the easiest and most efficient way to make the switch, we suggest checking out the Slice, a pod-based vaping system that offers a hassle-free approach to vaping, no settings, no ohm law, just vapor

Manufacturing Quality

One of the most striking aspects about the Suorin Air is definitely shape. Instead of taking the tried and true approach which made devices such as the Juul a mainstay in the biz, the Suorin Air is curiously rectangular in shape.

While this might not be necessarily groundbreaking by any means, it does inject an extra dimension of stealth into the kit as the entire device can almost be mistaken for a business card holder (at least to our eyes).

Like most pod-style devices, the Suorin Air employs a familiar two-piece assembly consisting of the main body of the device which holds the battery and charging port, and the actual pod which is comprised of the coil and tank used to hold e-liquid. The result is a straightforward and easy to setup/use package that should definitely make the entry into vaping a lot more doable even for beginners.Suorin Air available colors

The pods or cartridges used with the Suorin Air are plug and play so you won’t need any tools to set it up, something that’s pretty much a requisite for starter kit like the Suorin Air. The contacts do a good job of forming a tight connection between the coil and battery so we never experience issues while firing the device.

The cartridge itself is constructed out of a food-grade PETG so there’s no worry about chemicals from the plastic leeching into your e-liquid of choice.

Flavour Quality

As you might have surmised from the name, the Suorin Air delivers a relatively looser inhale compared to other ultra-portables such as the Juul. While it’s definitely not the tightest draw we’ve experienced on a pod-style device, we never felt that the looseness of the airflow negatively impacted the flavour production in any tangible degree.

We did experience a slight boost when it came to vapor production so those looking for a small mini cloud chucker might feel at home with this kit. If you are someone who also uses 510 oil cartridges and other vapers have reported Tronian Nutron is a good place to start.

The air-activated sensor felt responsive and never failed to fire up the Suorin Air when taking a pull, one niggling issue that sometimes plagued this kit, however, is the overall reliability of the coils used. About 1 out of every 10 coils we used turned out to be a dud and produced poor flavour and vapor and needed to be replaced almost immediately.

While this isn’t an issue exclusive to Suorin (check out all the reliability issues plaguing Smok coils), its something we hope Suorin rectifies in the near future.

Suorin Air power controlPower Flexibility

Just like every other pod-style device available in the market at the moment, the Suorin Air completely forgoes the use of variable wattage and temperature control modes for a much cleaner and compact device. On the other hand, vaping with the Suorin Air doesn’t feel as rigid compared to when using closed pod devices such as the Pax Juul thanks to the refillable nature of the cartridges used by the Suorin Air.

The result of this feature is that the Suorin Air lets you vape at pretty much any strength you desire (as long as you have the e-liquid for it). This alone makes it a much more superior quitting tool for vapers who plan to wean themselves off nicotine completely, something that the Juul doesn’t allow with their pods only coming in limited variations of strengths.

Thanks to the plug and play cartridges that come with each Suorin Air kit, setting up the device couldn’t be easier. While this doesn’t really make the Suorin Air any easier than any other pod-style device out there, its at least good to know it can keep up with even the best of them.

One minor improvement that Suorin could’ve implemented with this device was to design a side-filling port in lieu of the bottom fill port used in the Suorin Air which is all too common with this style of vape. Doing so would completely eliminate the need to remove the cartridge in order to refill increasing ease of use.

The good news is that the Suorin Air can hold up to a maximum of 2ml of e-liquid, and when coupling that with how this thing practically just sips e-liquid, you won’t find the need to refill often.

Portability

With the overall dimensions of the Suorin Air spanning a mere  88mm by 45mm by 8mm, its easily one of the thinnest vapes available right now. While the Pax Juul has it beat in the width department with its much narrower frame, the Suorin Air actually feels more pocketable in contrast as the thinness of the device barely lets you even know that it’s sitting in your pocket.

Battery life is also highly satisfactory with the internal battery rated at 400mAh, double of that of the Pax Juul. Getting a full day’s use out of the Suorin Air isn’t unusual and is pretty much the norm, even with frequent and heavy use.

Charging up the Suorin Air is easily done, even when on the go thanks to the easily accessible micro USB port. Charge up time goes for around 3 hours when the battery is fully depleted to get to a full charge.

Overall Experience

While the Suorin Air does have a slight issue regarding the quality control of the cartridges it uses, it’s hardly enough reason to give it a thumbs down. Apart from the interesting form factor that makes it one of the most pocketable devices in the market, the Suorin Air vapes really well.

If you are looking for the best pre-filled unit on the market we suggest checking out the Slice and if you are looking for the best mod-style unit we suggest checking out the Smok X-Priv.
