MyBlu Starter Kit Review – Blu Moon

When it comes to the overall aesthetics, you’ll find a lot of similarities between the new MyBlu and the Pax Juul. Sharing pretty much the same form factor as the Juul, theMyBlu looks like your standard USB flash drive, meaning to say that it’s very slim and easy to hold.

The small form factor also contributes largely to the lightness of the MyBlu making it extremely easy to bring with you on the go.

Conforming to the majority of pod-style devices, the MyBlu makes use of its own proprietary pod design. Considering how the MyBlu is aiming to revamp the original design and performance over the older devices in its lineup, it’s a bit disappointing to see that the pods are still using the same old clip-on design to attach themselves to the body of the device itself. Other pod-style devices have been moving towards magnetic ports that are significantly easier to install and remove so it would have been nice to see something similar with the MyBlu.

On the other hand, the MyBlu does sport a few sound design decisions here and there, most notable of which it’s mouthpiece being integrated into the replaceable pod itself.

Considering that the MyBlu is designed to cater to vapers who aren’t looking for a device to tinker with and maintain, adding the mouthpiece to the list of disposables eliminates the need for the user to routinely clean the device since a new mouthpiece comes with every new pod refill.

One of the biggest failures of the original Blu e-cigarettes was their poor overall vaping performance. Not only were they very lackluster in producing any substantial flavor or vapor, there was also practically no throat hit to be had when vaping on the Blu.

The new MyBlu is slowly changing things up with its compatibility to a fresh line up of pod flavors. Dubbed with the intense moniker, these new pods use a much-improved e-liquid solution to deliver a more substantial throat hit but still manages to keep the overall vaping experience smooth and relaxed all throughout.

One of the advantages of choosing a MyBlu over the Pax Juul is the much more varied selection of pod flavors to choose from. Since both of these devices utilize a closed pod system, refilling the pods with your own e-liquid isn’t really an option. While the Juul only has 8 flavors in total, the  MyBlu has double that amount if you include the regular e-liquid offerings as well as the Intense lineup which boasts a much stronger e-liquid concentration per puff.

Its difficult to find anything to complain about in regards to the vapor and flavor production of the MyBlu. The airflow is tight and restricted, offering a familiar mouth to lung sensation similar to most cig-a-likes and pod-style vaping devices.

The restricted airflow is a big help in producing a denser flavor with each puff, and while vapor production naturally can’t compete with bigger box mods, it’s more than enough considering the low output of the device.

Ease of Use

The MyBlu uses an air activated sensor to fire up the device which has almost become a standard among all ultra-portable pod-style devices these days. While it’s not innovative by any means, it’s quite reliable when it comes to producing a stable and consistent output whenever you inhale from the mouthpiece. To sum it up misfires simply arent a thing when vaping on the MyBlu.

The pod features a light which turns on whenever you take a puff, indicating that the device is indeed firing up and producing vapor. Color changes in the indicator light serve to let you know the remaining charge left in the internal battery, a mechanism that has also become an industry standard among more compact starter kits.

The competition is pretty tough out there, especially so in the world of pod-style devices which serve to be the entry point for most new vapers. It’s a good thing that the MyBlu doesn’t fall short and manages to deliver a satisfactory vaping experience within the small shell of its streamlined and ergonomic chassis.

While it’s understandable that more experienced vapers might shy away from the inflexibility of the MyBlu when it comes power settings as well as flavor options, those looking for an easy to use and reliable starter kit should have no problems with the MyBlu, especially given its much lower price point.
