Ooze Comet Mini E-Rig Review – Entering the Atmosphere

Updated: October 6, 2023

Ooze is an up and coming brand which puts out budget portable vaporizers and e-rigs for respectable prices. The Comet is a brand new device and we at TVape are first to report on how this new little e-nail performs. Being one of the smallest e-nails on the market today, we go over the whole package and give you the low-down on it! Check out our video overview of the Comet below to see what it’s all about!

How it Works

The Comet is another incredibly simple e-nail to use. Select which atomizer to use, turn on the unit, load your material, and then cap it with the carb tool and inhale through the water bubbler.

Our tutorial video gives a thorough rundown on how to operate it if you might feel a little lost. After turning on the unit, there’s an automatic 20-second shut-off timer to prevent the unit from overheating.

Unfortunately, there’s no temperature flexibility like devices such as the Linx Blaze has. This is where the Comet has its biggest hurdle.

The unknown temperatures at which you’ll be vaporizing at will certainly work well enough, though if you have a specific type of cannabis extracts that works best at a certain temperature, you’re better off with a different device.

In order to reach a higher temperature, you can simply heat the device up a second time. However we do not recommend more than 3 back to back sessions to keep the unit from getting too hot.

Vapor Quality

Even though there’s no precise temperature control, the vapor quality is still very impressive! Choosing between the different heating elements will give your vaporized material different qualities on its own, so it’s best to experiment with the different ones to see which you like most.

With the unregulated temperature, the heat from the chosen nail will slowly climb, and as we mentioned back-to-back sessions will get the nail even hotter. This can be an advantage to some who prefer to have their material used up in a single huge draw, though detrimental to others who like their heat a certain way. Users that prefer to know what heat temperature they are at while dabbing tend to prefer devices like the Utillian 5.

Being the smallest e-nail with water filter we’ve ever seen though, the vapor quality is pretty good! The water filtration certainly does the trick, and while a larger unit like the Utillian 8 will provide higher-quality hits, it’ll certainly outperform most non-water filtered device.

Manufacturing Quality

The Comet has a pretty sturdy build quality, and the glass feels like it’s more durable than some that we’ve seen.

The heating elements are well-crafted and overall the unit feels quite good for its small stature.

To add to that, Ooze does include a decent accessories kit featuring:

  • The battery
  • Ceramic nail
  • Quartz nail
  • Titanium nail
  • Water bubbler
  • Stainless steel carb cap
  • Micro USB charger
  • Magnetic ceramic dab tool
  • Magnetic stand

To add to that, the Comet also has a built-in silicone wax container at the bottom of the battery! If you’ve seen our Source Orb 4 Premium Kit, you’ll know that this little feature makes a big difference.

Overall, the Comet has pretty good manufacturing quality, though since the MSRP is yet to be disclosed, it’s hard to gauge how good it really is.

Being 1200mAh, you’re given plenty of battery life to play with. While the majority of sessions last a minute or less, you can easily expect to enjoy about a couple dozen sessions before needing to top up.

Charging from flat to full with the included MicroUSB will take around 3 hours. Though the battery life is good, long-term reliability becomes a factor when the internal battery inevitably starts to lose life.

Hopefully Ooze included a battery with a healthy lifespan!

Users who prefer not to wait for the battery to charge usually tend to prefer devices that have removable devices like the Source Orb 4 Signature Kit.

Portability

Being one of the smallest e-nails on the market, portability is pretty good – for an e-nail. Compared to many wax vaporizers, the glass bubbler makes it rather cumbersome to carry and throw into a bag.

For frequent use around the home and group sessions, the Comet really shines bring. Personally, I would rather have a device that could do both such as the Puffco Peak as you can use it as a traditional wax vaporizer or as an e-nail.

Ease of Use

Lack of independent temperature control makes the Comet even simpler to use – though I wouldn’t consider that a good thing exactly. A complete newbie could pick up and use this device with a little guidance, and of course, veterans will have no problems getting it to work. However, some users who are new to these prefer units that have preset temperature settings like the Ember Wax pen.

Cleaning is very straightforward and some alcohol wipes like the ZEUS Grime Wipes will make quick work of any dirty atomizers. The glass bubbler cleans very easily with a little bit of isopropyl alcohol, shaken to dissolve any residue and build-up.

Discreetness

Unfortunately, the glass bubbler makes it 0% discreet. Even though it’s tiny as a whole, there’s no chance you’re going to remain inconspicuous while taking a draw from this thing.

It is possible to do a stealthy dab or two with this device, but if prying eyes would be a problem for you, I’d highly recommend a different device like the Linx Ares.

The Ooze Comet from Oozelife is pretty decent. For something this tiny, it gives very good vapor and flavour. If Ooze were to implement a form of precise temperature control or at least some presets to choose from, this device would certainly be a hit for those looking for an ultra-portable e-nail setup.

If you think you’d prefer a unit which can do both herbs and cannabis extracts check out the Focusvape Tourist and if just a pen style wax device is more up your alley we suggest the Kandypens Elite.
