Juno Vape Pen Review – Ju-Yes or Ju-No?

Updated: December 22, 2022
“Do we really need another pod-style device?” was the first thought that crossed our minds as the Juno entered our review radar. It might come as no surprise to you but the vaping market has been oversaturated as of late with scores and scores of Juul clones. While a precious few manage to overcome the stigma of being labeled a copycat thanks to their superior performance over the Juul, the Juno, unfortunately, doesn’t quite belong to that category.
Editors Note:  For those looking for the definitive pod-based vape we highly suggest checking out Slice, which is engineered in France and offers 1.4ml pods and an impressive 380mah battery.

Juno Review

Manufacturing Quality

At first glance, you might be compelled into thinking that the Juno looks like a clever imitation of the Juul when it comes to build quality and aesthetics. After all, they do share similar form factors and features out of the box that would lead most to think that these two share a lot in common.

A closer inspection of the Juno shattered our preconceptions about it as the device looks and feels subpar when compared to the Juul in just about every possible way. To help put things in perspective, the Juno looks and feels like one of the numerous cheap imitation gadgets that you might encounter in an Asian night market. If you are someone who also uses 510 oil cartridges and other vapers have reported Yocan Wit is a good place to start.

While similar in shape to the Juul, the Juno lacks all of its luster as everything down from the machining of the chassis to the overall design of the mod simply feels inferior to the Juul.Juno available colors

While you might think we’re bordering close to hyperbole when discussing how flawed the Juno is, don’t get us wrong, the Juno is still crafted out of a relatively rigid aluminum alloy. It’s not made out of plastic so don’t expect the device to fall apart as soon as you take it out of the box and take your first puff.

But while the build quality on the Juno is passable, there’s a multitude of pod-style devices out there such as the Juul or Myle that simply offers a better premium in the way they’re constructed and overall device feel, but without much of the added cost.

Flavor Quality

If there’s one thing that the Juno does right though, it’s through its extensive selection of available flavor pods. With over 20 flavor pods covering the entire palate of dessert, tobacco, fruit, and menthol flavors, its definitely no challenge in finding a potential flavor that caters to your taste.

But it’s not all good news on the flavor front unfortunately as the Juno has some of the most horrible spit back we’ve encountered so far in a pod-style device. You might as well be drinking instead of vaping the e-liquid out of the pods with the rate of spit back you’re bound to experience with the Juno. Users who are interested in 510 thread cartridges for oil often prefer the Tronian Pitron.

This might have been acceptable to some degree, but considering the high nicotine content of these pods that range from 36-50mg/ml, this can result in a very unpleasant head buzz from intaking too much nicotine in your system.

If none of the above already has you running in the opposite direction of the Juno, the durability on the coils used in their closed disposable pods is well below average. More often than not, the flavor on the pods would already taste burnt even when there’s still a good amount of e-liquid left in the pod which just speaks very poorly about the subpar quality of the coils in these things.

When it comes to the Juno’s modes and features, there’s not much ground to cover. Just like any pod-style device, the tradeoff in getting a much smaller and straightforward vape is the lack of extra functionality that comes with it. With that said, the Juno only supports vaping at a fixed wattage so there’s no room for adjusting any power settings.

What you can control though, is the nicotine strength in your pods. Available in 50mg/ml, 36mg/ml, and 24mg/ml nicotine strengths depending on the flavor, it’s important to pick a nicotine level where you feel comfortable vaping with.

Thanks to the Juno using a closed pod system, it’s pretty straightforward to set up and use and doesn’t really require much of learning curve. Simply charge up the device with the included USB charger, insert your pod of choice and start inhaling.

The Juno uses an air activated sensor to fire up the mod, thus enabling a button-less design that mimics the hand feel of a traditional methods, much like the Juul.

Unfortunately, the Juno also uses a proprietary USB charger so if you lose the one that comes with your kit, you won’t be able to just pick up and use any other micro USB you happen to have lying around.

Portability

Similar to other devices that share the form factor of the Juul, the Juno is just as tiny and every bit as portable as most pod-style devices. With its overall size and shape mirroring that of a standard USB flash drive, the Juno is easy to take around with you and can easily slip even into the smallest of pockets.

As for battery life, the Juno has a considerable advantage with its 380mAh integrated battery pack, giving you enough power to vape for an entire day without requiring a recharge.

Overall Experience

Given the numerous flaws of the Juno, spanning from its lackluster build quality, poor vaping performance in regards to spit back, and similar price to the Juul, it’s difficult to recommend the Juno, especially with all the better options out there in the market.

If you’re looking for something that performs but isn’t the Juul, go check out the Slice for its superior airflow design and excellent build quality.
