Arizer Air 2 vs ArGo – A Sibling Showdown

Updated: October 6, 2023
Vapor Quality

The Arizer Air originally was released to be a portable version of the beloved Arizer Solo. After a few years, Arizer updated it with a second revision, the Air 2. Though a portable vaporizer, many had qualms with its portability aspect of it, particularly with the protruding glass stem.

Enter: the ArGo – Arizers first fully portable and compact device. Coming in at $30 more than the Air 2, the ArGo features an incredibly similar heating element, digital temperature control, and stellar build quality. How do these two stacks up, and which one is better? Find out in this Arizer Air 2 vs ArGo sibling showdown.

Let’s find out!

Vapor Quality

Both the Arizer ArGo and the Arizer Air 2 use a blend of conduction and convection heating, or better known as hybrid heating. Arizer vaporizers have certainly nailed this part on all of their devices and no matter which one you get, you won’t be disappointed.

The Arizer Air 2 has a slightly bigger cannabis capacity, sitting at about 0.2 grams of cannabis, depending on how finely ground your material is. You’ll certainly get bigger draws and slightly longer sessions through the Air 2 with the higher capacity while using its glass aroma tube. The longer stem coupled with the Arizer Air mouthpiece gives the vapor more time to cool down than a shorter stem on the ArGo, leaving you with smoother draws and less throat/lung irritation.

The ArGo, on the other hand, holds about 0.12-0.15 grams in the glass chamber, which is a little bit less in the Arizer ArGo glass tube. The vapor comes out a tad warmer and wispier than the Air 2, due to the shorter stem. Still, the vapor comes out pretty smooth with great flavor behind it!With that in mind, both units product incredibly similar vapor quality at the same temperatures, with the Air 2 squeaking out a slight edge due to the larger capacity and smoother vapor. Also, there’s no Water Pipe Adapter (WPA) available (yet) for the ArGo, though there is one for the Air 2, so if using a water piece is something you do or will do in the future, keep that in mind. For a more robust vapor quality, you can also check out the Zeus Arc GTS Hub which has a gold chamber that can provide a much smoother draw.

While both units put out great quality vapor, the Air 2 wins with the WPA versatility, cooler vapor and slightly larger cannabis capacity.

Manufacturing Quality

Arizer is renowned for their very durable devices and although both units are relatively new releases, I would certainly trust both to carry on the durable legacy Arizer has left behind. With that being said, in this Arizer Air 2 vs ArGo comparison, it’s difficult to pick a winner between the two. Both have solid construction, the materials feel great and Arizer includes a healthy accessories kit for both units.

The Air 2 does edge it out ever so slightly though. The ArGo as a whole begins to heat up notably more than the Air 2 does, which may not leave everyone comfortable. The sturdy aluminum body of the Air 2 takes on a better feel than the rubberized alloy material that the ArGo sports, and considering the Air 2 is a bit cheaper than the Go, it comes out on top. The Arizer Go also has its own replacement stem caps and screen caps that can be purchased separately.

If small chambers don’t do you good, then you’ll surely love the Utillian 722 especially because of its large cannabis holding capacity and convection heating chamber.

While both are built incredibly well, the Air 2 slightly edges out over the Arizer Go. Keyword: slightly.

Ease of Use

Both units are incredibly easy to use. Both feature a digital display with easy to use temperature control, and both have chambers that load by inserting the glass stem into the unit, pre-packed with the cannabis of course. Both have a very low-maintenance cleaning process which is almost entirely restricted to the stem of each unit.

A simple soak in a cleaning solution will make quick work of any build-up and residue. There’s no definitive winner and again, as this round’s Air 2 vs ArGo showdown draws in a tie!

When thinking of ease of use, another vaporizer that comes to mind would be the LITL 1, mainly because of its simplicity for load, clean and use.

Portability

The ArGo is the clear winner here. While the Air 2 is fairly compact and slides into a pocket well, you need to err on the side of caution to not break the stem while in transport.

The ArGo, on the other hand, has a clever stem-hiding feature as well as the inclusion of two Aroma Tubes with caps, allowing you to have one pre-packed and ready to go, for easy swapping when out and about!

The Arizer ArGo certainly wins on the portability side!

However, if you are more into portability, the Utillian 722 with its single-button operation is another option to look into.

Battery Life

Likewise, with manufacturing quality, both devices have identical battery life and interchangeability. Both units have batteries that can be hot-swapped, both feature pass-through charging with the Arizer Air 2 charger after around 10-20 minutes, both use the standard 18650 Air 2 or ArGo battery and both have a battery life between 60-90 minutes, depending on usage and temperature settings. Yet, both fall behind the Mighty vaporizer which has dual lithium-ion batteries that last for 1.5 hours, which is a good option if you are power-hungry.

Given how both devices use the same battery, either of them pairs pretty well with the Arizer Air 2 car charger for convenient charging even when on the road.

A dead tie in the battery life department on all fronts.

Temperature Flexibility

With both units featuring the exact same options when it comes to temperature flexibility and versatility, there is yet another complete tie. Both feature nice OLED screens, adjust in temperature in small increments with the same 128-428°F (53.3 -220°C). ! If there’s one point worth mentioning, the Air 2 heats up ever so slightly quicker. When I say that, it’s in the single-digit numbers, and really doesn’t impact much at all. But if you want a more precise temperature control with convection heating, then look no further than the Crafty vaporizer.

There is no clear winner here at all and both yield yet another tie!

SHOWDOWN

It’s really difficult to choose a winner between the two. For a more portable and discreet unit, I’d certainly opt for the ArGo, however for slightly bigger draws and cooler vapor I’d opt for the Air 2 instead. The Air 2 isn’t cumbersome by any means and the Argo still has great vapor quality, but they both have their slight advantages.

The deeper versatility the Air 2 also has with different stems, water pipe adapters, and other general accessories leave the ArGo behind.

No matter what you would choose, both the ArGo and the Air 2 are great choices and you really won’t be going wrong at all. Personally, I’d go for the Air 2 since the small difference in portability is worth the trade-off for vapor quality, and the slightly cheaper price point makes it even more enticing.
