The NO2 by Vapir has been a staple in the Portable Vaporizermarket for a few years now and has always been one of the more popular units. Recently however, many new portable vaporizers such as the DaVinci have hit the market and have quickly established themselves as trusty units themselves. Today we will have a look at the NO2 and compare it to the DaVinci to see if Vapir’s unit stands a chance against the new generation.
Comparison Review of Vapir NO2 vs DaVinci Vaporizer
The NO2 is able to produce nice vapor at lower temperatures. What we like is that the unit produced dense and visible vapor at 195 °C degrees making vaporization very efficient. However, at higher temperatures over 195 °C we found the vapor to lose some of its natural flavor making it taste a bit harsh. This is usually the case; however as the NO2 has a brass heating element the performance is further hampered.
Although the DaVinci is a small unit it still produces some top notch vapor. Just like the NO2 it has a temperature display so you can set temperature to the nearest degree. What we liked about this unit is that it works very well at higher temperature levels allowing you to extract very thick vapor without it tasting harsh. With the snorkel accessory, vapor quality is further enhanced.
Winner: DaVinci – Smoother Vapor – Better at high temperatures
The NO2’s design has proven to be a functional unit over the years. The unit is sturdy and has no parts that could easily break. However, we would have liked to see some more high quality parts especially considering the amount of heat resistant plastic used in the Portable Vaporizer. The stainless steel heating chamber does a very good job though and the temperature display is easy to use and very functional. The Vapir NO2 comes with a one year warranty and based on the defective rates we have seen over the years, it is a vape that has established quality controls. However the extend of refurbished units that are sold online indicate that the unit might need some more quality components. We definitely would like Vapir to increase warranty to two years, which is the current standard in the market for handheld vaporizers.
The DaVinci is one of the best portable vaporizers in terms of manufacturing quality. The unit looks very sleek and little details like the composite material flexi-stem shows that the manufacturer took great care in the small details that make a vaporizer stand out. There is not much difference between the airflow of the two units. The heating chamber is made of stainless steel and the casing feels great in one’s hand. The company behind the DaVinci is specialized in product development and sourcing. The strength of this unit is not only the functional design, but also the quality components used in the unit.
Winner: DaVinci – More detail oriented manufacturing process, with better quality components and longer warranty.
The NO2 can reach maximum temperatures of up to 205 °C and it does so relatively quickly. What is nice about this unit is that it has a digital display allowing you to set temperature to the nearest degree. We would have liked to see the unit reach higher temperatures though. The current maximum temperature, which is 205 °C is on the low end for people who like thicker and denser vapor.
The DaVinci Vaporizer can reach temperatures of up to 221 degrees Celsius. Just like the NO2 is has a digital display making calibration quick and easy. The temperature control settings is identical between the two units.
Winner: Da Vinci - Can reach higher temperatures
The NO2 is one of the largest portable vaporizers around. Although it is a high quality unit, one can see that over the last few years vaporizers have gotten smaller and Vapir might have “missed the bus” on this fact. Hopefully the next version will shrink by at least 50%.
The DaVinci is less than half the size of the NO2. It is small enough to fit into any pocket and the flexi drawing stem will allow you to throw it into the smallest of bags without the fear of breakage. What is also great is the extra botanical storage compartment found next to the heating chamber so you are always ready to go.
Winner: DaVinci – less than half the size
Due to its size this unit loses some if its discreteness. Especially when attaching the Vapir NO2’s whip to the unit it does become fairly long and very difficult to put away. What we did like though is that the unit produces very little odor.
The DaVinci might just be the most discrete unit around. It is a very small unit with a very smart design. The unit pretty much looks like a Walky Talky or cell phone and therefore disguises itself very well. Odor development is fairly low giving this vaporizer an edge in discreteness compared to pretty much any unit out there.
Winner: DaVinci – looks like a walkie talkie and easily fits into pocket. less odor development.
Overall, one can clearly see that we give the DaVinci Vaporizer a clear edge compared to the NO2. Although we thoroughly enjoy using the NO2, it does seem a bit outdated these days when compared to newer units. The one advantage of the NO2 is that it is very competitively priced and if you are on a tight budget be rest assured that in its price class the NO2 does bring value to the table. In this case though, the DaVinci beats Vapir’s unit in pretty much every category showing that vaporizers have come a long way from just a few years ago.
