Connoisseurs always want to make the right decision when investing in a vaporizer. Today we are going to compare two portable vaporizers to get a feel for the strengths and weaknesses of each. In one corner, we have the Vapman, a unique, hand crafted portable that comes to us from Switzerland. In the other corner, we have the Vapir NO2, a portable vaporizer made in China. Let’s see how these two different units compare in our Vape Showdown.
Vapman vs Vapir NO2
The Vapman produces outstanding vapor due to its unique design. Hand assembled in Switzerland, the manufacturer uses high quality materials to give you a great vaporizing experience. You load your botanical into the gold plated heating chamber, attach the mouth piece, apply heat to the base using your torch lighter and take your draws.
The NO2 produces good vapor at lower temperatures, 195 degrees Celsius and lower. The vapor produced is quite dense and visible. Above this temperature, the NO2 can get a bit harsh due to the brass heating element.
The Vapman is outstanding in terms of manufacturing quality. It has high quality components that have been machined with an incredible attention to detail, including a gold plated heating chamber mounted onto pear tree wood. If you pick up the Mica version, this material allows even better heat compared to the already amazing. This portable unit is hand made in Switzerland, ensuring quality craftsmanship. The unit is quite sturdy and strong and is very easy to clean.
The NO2 has good manufacturing quality but could do a lot better. This unit is built to be functional and sturdy. At the same time, it is large, has a lot of plastic components, and is heavy. The brass heating element and stainless steel heating chamber can make the vapor more harsh tasting at higher temperatures. It does come with a digital display to set your temperature which is rare for lower cost portable vaporizers on the market today, but that doesn’t earn it enough points to win this category.
Ease of Use
The Vapman is very easy to use. Loading your botanical is simple and the unit is so efficient that you only need a small amount, which makes for a very cost effective experience. With this unit, you just need to use a torch lighter to heat up the chamber where your botanical sits. This works quickly and quietly. You never need to worry about charging batteries. Instead, you just need to make sure that your torch lighter is topped up with purified butane every once in a while.
The NO2 is easy to use. The digital display lets you have precise control over your heating temperature and the unit heats up pretty quickly. The buttons are large and fairly intuitive. Battery life is okay, lasting about 70 minutes of continuous vaporizing and you can use the unit while it is charging. If it was a little easier to clean and less reliant on battery power, this unit might have been able to win in this category.
The Vapman is quite portable. It works quietly and quickly. It’s small and well built. It also comes with a carrying case, ensuring that your portable unit is safe when you take it with you on the go. It also uses a torch lighter to provide heat to your botanical so you never have to worry about running out of a charge.
The NO2 is large and heavy, making it almost the opposite of portable. Add the matrix tube and X-Tip mouthpiece and it is even less portable. It does heat up pretty quickly, but that’s not enough to excuse its poor performance in this category.
The Vapman is very discrete. It is small and can be easily missed by most passing eyes. Since you are using a torch lighter, the operation is very fast and very quiet, but it does draw a bit of attention to the unit. You also do have to use two hands though which may also make this more noticeable.
The NO2 is by far less discrete. It’s big before you even attach all the required components. You really can’t miss this beast when it is in use. This is a portable unit that is best for at home use or not at all if your main concern is discretion.
For the Vapman, temperature depends on how long you hold the torch lighter to the base of the heating chamber. This makes precision heat control difficult and even those well versed in the ways of their Vapman might find it hard to consistently find the right temperature. The NO2 can reach a maximum temperature of 205 degrees Celsius and is set this with the digital display. This is quite convenient and makes for much more consistent temperature control.
After careful consideration and testing, our winner today is the Vapman. This unit has it all: superior vapor quality, manufacturing quality, portability and discreteness as well as ease of use. You may want to pick up the NO2 if you are looking for a vaporizer with a digital temperature display and want to only vape at home, but the Vapman is still today’s clear winner.
