Review: Vaporesso Cascade One kit
Upon unboxing the Vaporesso Cascade One, your initial thoughts might that this isn’t a kit designed for beginners. This stems from the fact that the entirety of the mod itself is composed of more individual parts than you can shake a stick at.
But that shouldn’t scare you away, because despite it’s numerous components, the Vaporesso Cascade One is exceedingly easy to put together, with all parts requiring simple screwing on through the well-machined ad satisfyingly smooth threading.
If there’s one thing that Vaporesso always get’s right, its the quality of their manufacturing process, and the Vaporesso Cascade One is no exception to that rule with its sturdy build quality, choice premium materials, and tight tolerances that give the entirety of the mod an almost luxurious hand feel.
Aside from the large and squarish firing button which can be found on the main body of the mod, there really isn’t anything to glimpse when looking the kit over. There isn’t any screen, nor are there any additional buttons that might only serve to complicate things for newcomers to vaping.
Like many mods of its size category, the Vaporesso Cascade One uses a LED indicator highlighting the firing button to communicate the device’s status and remaining battery life to the user.
The Vaporesso Cascade One kit is packaged with the all-new Cascade tank. Constructed out of a solid and sturdy stainless steel, this atomizer is solid to the touch and built like a brick. Connecting to the battery with a 510 connection, the threads are seamless without any rough burrs or scratches, making installation and removal of the tank a breeze.
Like many other sub-ohm tanks, the tank component is made out of Pyrex glass, so while it does offer a certain degree of durability, its certainly not drop proof, so always be careful when storing or handling your device.
The all-new Cascade tank brings something new to the table in the form of the GT Mesh coils. Unlike previous coil heads which incorporated standard metal coil builds where majority of the heat used to vaporize the e-liquid is concentrated in one area, mesh coils have the distinct advantage of heating a larger and more even surface area, ensuring that you get the maximum level of vapor and flavor, with fewer chances of getting dry hits or burning your cotton.
While all that sounds good on paper, how does it really perform in a real-life scenario? The answer to that is: not bad, not bad at all. While the vape the mesh coils provide is certainly different, it’s still a matter of preference when it comes to which type of coil is better.
The standard wrapped coils that many have come to know and use deliver a more intense vape, but depending on how the coil is setup, it’s not very ideal for chain vapers, as the high heat usually proves more than a match for the wicking capabilities of organic cotton. Mesh coils do a better job of preventing dry hits even when chain-vaped, but the lower heat intensity results in a slightly muted flavor that some may not enjoy.
Despite having said all of that, it’s a win-win scenario should you decide on picking up the Vaporesso Cascade One thanks to the kit including both options for you to choose from. Aside from the GT Mesh coil, Vaporessos signature ceramic CCELL 2 coil is also bundled with the kit, giving you a good alternative should the mesh coils not to be your liking.
While it’s pretty much a given that tube style mods such as the Vaporesso Cascade One don’t include all the bells and whistles that bigger and higher powered box mods have, that doesn’t mean it’s not without its own special features.
Utilizing the reliable OMNI Board Mini, the Vaporesso Cascade One ensures one of the safest vaping experiences thanks to the inclusion of a myriad of safety features hard-wired into the device such as short circuit protection, low-voltage protection, over-temperature protection, and a whole lot more.
And while variable wattage isn’t an option for this device, you’re free to use your own 510 atomizers with this mod. So if you ever feel like seeking an alternative vaping experience, you’ll have the option of trying out different atomizers and see how those work out for you down the road.
Ease of Use
Thanks to the Vaporesso Cascade One’s one button operation, it’s a very viable choice for beginners. The learning curve when it comes to setting up and operating the kit is practically zero. Out of the box, the included GT Mesh coil is pre-installed and ready for vaping.
The Cascade tank holds up to 3.5ml of e-liquid so there’s definitely no need for frequent refills, and when the time comes that you need to top up the tank, the top cap easily twists off making refilling on the go a breeze.
A simple 5 clicks on the firing button turns on the device with another 5 clicks turning it off. Pressing and holding the firing button activates the mod. One thing to take note though is that when using new coils with the tank, its always a good idea to prime the coil by dripping a few drops of e-liquid directly onto the chamber, fill up the tank, then let the entire thing sit for about 3-5 minutes to give enough time for the coils and wicks to fully saturate with e-liquid. This method applies to all tanks and ensures the optimal vaping experience when it comes to flavor and vapor production.
Thanks to the tube-style form factor of the Vaporesso Cascade One, it’s easily one of the more compact devices to grace our pages. While it comes to a close second right behind the ultra-compact devices such as the Pax Juul, the Vaporesso Cascade One is leagues beyond in terms of flavor and vapor quality.
The battery lasts for a good portion of a single day, but heavier vapers who frequently chain vape might find the 1800mAh battery a bit lacking for a whole day’s worth of use.
This is slightly offset by the 2 amp charging rate that tops up the battery to the maximum charge in under an hour, so even when the battery of the Vaporesso Cascade One is fully depleted, getting it up to speed in full working order can be done in a flash.
Despite it not being the perfect kit that has it all, it’s hard to dislike the Vaporesso Cascade One.
It’s stylish, compact, and the included Cascade tank gives you lots of options for matching your preference with its multiple supported coil styles.
While the battery life could definitely be improved, the quick charging feature slightly makes up for that.
