Review: Wismec SINUOUS P80 Review
The manufacturing quality of the P80 is good. Like the Predator, there isn’t really anything groundbreaking about the mod itself. It’s pretty much a standard single 18650 mod, just with a little bit different design.
I’ll give the design credit though, I do really like it. I specifically like the rounded edges the whole way around because it feels great in the hand. They make it feel even smaller than it already is because of how comfortable it is to hold it.
The fire button is a whole side trigger. The interesting thing is that the screen is also located on this side, as are the two additional buttons for adjusting the settings. This setup is probably one of the reasons they were able to keep things so compact. The screen is functional but nothing special. It has all the details you need and is relatively easy to read.
That’s really all there is to the mod. Like I said, it’s a pretty basic setup. The colors it is available in are Black, Red, Blue, Silver, and Bronze.
The kit comes with the Elabo mini tank. It only has a 2ml capacity, but I still like it a lot. This shouldn’t be surprising, because I also really like the normal Elabo tank. There are a couple of specific reasons.
For starters, it’s just made well and the coil performance is great. Second, it fills from the top, but the drip tip locks the sliding top in place. To open it, you have to remove the drip tip first. This setup keeps things quick and easy, but also prevents it from accidently opening when you’re carrying it. It also makes it more childproof.
The vapor quality of the Elabo mini tank is excellent It only comes with one type of coil (2 are included in the box), but that coil manages to deliver a surprisingly nice blend of both flavor and cloud production. It is a single barrel triple coil with a 0.2ohm resistance. The coil can handle up to 80W, but I found the best performance to be around 50W.
The flavor also stays good throughout the recommended range. A lot of coils start delivering very muted flavor when you use them at the higher end of their wattage range, but the difference wasn’t so severe with these. This is good news for people who prefer denser, warmer vapor.
The power flexibility is good. For a while we were seeing vapes with all kinds of new features and settings, but over the last year an equilibrium seems to have been reached.
For the most part, almost every vape has the exact same power options relative to the battery they use. In the case of a single 18650, this means around 75-80W of power, temperature control options, and maybe some TCR options.
That’s exactly what the P80 has. 80W maximum power output. Temperature control options for nickel, titanium, and stainless steel with a range of 200F to 600F. Bypass and TCR modes. A minimum resistance of 0.05ohm in the TC modes and 0.1ohm in wattage mode.
Like power flexibility, the overall ease of using a vape has become fairly standardized. This has 3 buttons total, one of which is the side firing trigger. The other two are the up and down buttons, and you’ll need to memorize a couple button combinations to fully take advantage of the functionality. This rarely takes more than a few minutes when you first get the mod.
The Elabo mini tank is also very easy to use. It has an airflow adjustment ring on the bottom and it fills from the top. You have to remove the drip tip to access the fill port, but this really isn’t much of an inconvenience.
The portability of this is good. It is extremely small, and the form factor makes it very comfortable to keep in your hand over longer periods of time.
It’s also small enough to slip into a pocket without discomfort. The Elabo mini tank only has a 2ml capacity, so you may want something bigger if you want to go a longer time without needing to refill. The mod can fit tanks up to 25mm.
The battery life is also good. To get the most life per charge, you’ll obviously want to vape at lower wattages.
The Wismec Sinuous P80 is a good mod.
I have almost identical feelings about it as I do towards the Wismec Predator. There really isn’t anything new here. There’s no reason to run out and buy one if you already have a similarly sized mod. There are so many other mods out there that do exactly the same thing that it does.
But if you don’t have a mod yet and this is the style you are looking for, this would be a great one to get. The design is a little better than most thanks to the rounded sides and small size. There doesn’t seem to be anything missing that you would want, unless you want more power. But to get that, you’ll need another battery inside.
The Elabo mini tank is nice. I’d rather get the regular Elabo in the kit because it has a bigger capacity, bigger coils and more coil options, but I get that including the mini is about keeping the entire kit small and portable. The performance of the mini in terms of both flavor and cloud production would make it a good first tank if you don’t have others, or a good portable option when you want a smaller setup.
