The portable vaporizers made by Iolite namely the original V2 and the newer WISPR Vaporizer have been a staple in the vape market for many years now. One can say that they are true veterans of the game. Many connoisseurs however still tend to be confused about what the difference is between the two units. After all, they are made by the same company and uniquely so, both run on purified butane. The patented Micro Catalytic convertor is the advantage of this unit. To this day, catalytic convertors have only been used in aluminum manufacturing as they are very efficient in heat generation.

Difference Between The Two Portable Vaporizers
In order to explain the difference between the two units let’s have a look at what has been changed since the original Iolite Vaporizer compared to the newer WISPR. One thing you can instantly notice is the completely different design between the two units. While the original has a more traditional look, the WISPR has a very unique 80’s retro looking casing, which I must say is quite awesome. It looks sleek and unique and that actually makes the unit more discrete as its cool design really distracts from the whole point that it is actually a small portable vaporizer.
What’s also noticeable is that this newer handheld vaporizer is a bit thicker so the unit does not get as hot during operation as the original. The next big difference is the drawing stem. The V2 has a plastic drawing stem that can be unscrewed from the unit while the WISPR has a soft plastic bendable drawing stem that can be tucked away. The soft plastic drawing stem makes the newer model even more portable as one never has to worry about breaking it and as it attaches to the unit one can seamlessly slide the unit in one’s pocket.
Another little perk of the new model is that it tells you the level of your colibri purified butane in a little window on the side of the unit. This makes the filling less of a guessing game.
Although the heating chambers look similar the WISPR actually has a more reliable ignition system. It does not ignite as often as the V2 and also provides a steadier more even stream of butane. This is a result of the longer but narrower heating chamber.
The optimizer works the same way with both units and is definitely something worth considering for both. As the IOLITE optimizer increases efficiency of extraction by 5-15% getting one will eventually pay back for itself.
Similarities Between The Two Portable Vaporizer
Loading up the unit is pretty much the same with both units. The drawing stem is removed from the unit and botanical is filled into the chamber below. These two vapes from Oglesby & Butler are also identical in the amount of time they need to heat up to 190 degrees Celsius (only 35 seconds). These two gadgets also have the same ignition system which is based on a two click system; one click to release the refined butane in the system and the second click, to ignite it.
Overall, both units are great and people who value the quick charge and long life energy system over having to charge batteries will enjoy both units. The WISPR is simply a little more advanced and has made some nice improvements over the original. Overall we enjoyed testing both units and understand why these two units have been so popular over the years.
