The XMax V2 Pro is a 2-in-1 vaporizer designed for cannabis and waxes. It\u2019s most notable feature is the price, coming in at well under $100. For a vaporizer that can handle two materials, that is extremely cheap. In case you are wondering, yes, it does produce actual vapor. Maybe not the most enjoyable vapor in the world, but it’s at least not combusting your herb. How it Works<\/h3>\n

This is a pretty basic pen-style herbal vaporizer. The mouthpiece is on the top of the unit, and you remove it to access the heating chamber. The chamber is wide and easy to fill, and it\u2019s powered by a 18650 battery.<\/p>\n

There\u2019s just one button to cycle the power and adjust the temperature. Three clicks turns it on or off, while holding the button allows you to select the temperature. Simply let go when the light is next to the level you want. The temperature level indicator is along the side, right next to the button.<\/p>\n

You can charge the battery externally or with a micro USB cord.\u00a0 <\/div><\/div>

\"Temperature<\/a>Temperature Flexibility<\/h3>\n

The temperature flexibility of the XMax V2 Pro is average. There are 5 presets to choose between, marked as 356F, 374F, 392F, 410F, and 428F. On the surface, this seems like it would be a great range for a device that doesn\u2019t offer full temperature control like what’s seen on the XMAX Starry<\/a>. The levels are adequately spaced and positioned to start and end right at the limits of what I call the vaporization range.<\/p>\n

The problem is that I\u2019m not confident that it actually heats to these levels. It seems to get significantly hotter the longer you use it. My guess is that these are approximate levels and that it isn\u2019t actually programmed for temperature control. If you want an even more precise temperature on your device, then you can take a look at the UTILLIAN 620<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\"Vapor<\/a><\/h3>\n

Vapor Quality<\/h3>\n

I\u2019m not very impressed by the vapor quality. I\u2019ve seen a lot of other people talking about how they like how much vapor it produces, but I think the vapor production is just a symptom of overheating your herb.<\/p>\n

The flavor from the XMax V2 Pro is below average and not very enjoyable. It\u2019s not bad at the very beginning of a session, but it drops off fast. Again, this fits well with my theory that it continues to heat beyond the temperature you choose. Expect a burnt popcorn-y taste by the middle of your session.<\/p>\n

One other thing worth mentioning is that the vapor is also hot. The vapor pathway is short and doesn\u2019t do a good job at cooling it down. This leads to harsh draws that are prone to making you cough.<\/p>\n

But if you are a person who prefers higher temperatures you may want to consider a unit like the Utillian 722<\/a> which does a much better job at handling higher temperatures and offers convection vapor.<\/p>\n

\"Manufacturing<\/a><\/h3>\n

Manufacturing Quality<\/h3>\n

Build quality is average. It works in the sense that it does produce real vapor, and that\u2019s honestly a pro at this price point. Again though, I have my doubts about the temperature levels.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s not just the vapor that gets hot, the device does too. By the middle of the session the base will be hot to touch, and the mouthpiece will start getting hot by the end as well. If you’re more interested in a robust build with haptic feedback, you should definitely take a look at the Mighty Vaporizer<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\"Battery<\/a>Battery Life<\/h3>\n

The battery life of the XMax V2 Pro is below average when compared to all portables, but not bad for the price point. The 18650 that is included should last you around 45 to 60 minutes on a full charge, but don\u2019t forget that you can always get extras as well.<\/p>\n

I recommend getting an extra battery with an external charger to anyone who gets a vape with a removable 18650 because it will make your life a lot easier.\u00a0 For a portable vaporizer, we were hoping with something with longer battery life like the Zeus Arc GTS Hub<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\"Portability<\/a><\/h3>\n

Portability<\/h3>\n

The portability is also just average with the XMax V2 Pro. While this is technically \u201cpen style\u201d, it’s much bigger than what you would expect. This will fit in your pocket, but it will also cause a noticeable bulge.<\/p>\n

The hot temperatures are also a disadvantage here because it is uncomfortable to carry when you first finish a session. If you are looking for something portable yet hosts a lot of features then check out the Davinci IQC<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\"Ease<\/a><\/h3>\n

Ease of Use<\/h3>\n

The XMax V2 Pro is very easy to use. Like I mentioned before, there is just one button to control all the functionality. The only things you have to remember are 3 clicks for power and click and hold to set the temperature.<\/p>\n

The big opening on the top makes it easy to load the chamber, and the fact that you can charge the battery from inside the unit or when it is removed is also convenient. If you prefer more simplicity, then be sure to take a look at the LITL One<\/a>\u00a0especially because its easy to use and clean.<\/p>\n

\"X<\/a>Discreetness<\/h3>\n

I don\u2019t think this is a very discreet vaporizer. The size is bigger than a lot of other vaporizers, including ones that are available on a budget. The other big problem is the amount of vapor and odor produced by this.<\/p>\n

In between draws, you will get a small amount of vapor leaking out the top. There isn\u2019t a good way to stop this, and the smell is pretty noticeable. So, if you have a small lung capacity, then you can do well with a portable vaporizer like the Mighty Vaporizer<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\"Overall<\/a>Overall Experience<\/h3>\n

I\u2019m not a fan of this vaporizer, as you can probably tell by reading the above review.<\/p>\n

It looks decent on paper, especially when you factor in the price, but its performance leaves a lot to be desired. It seems to overheat consistently, leading to a wasted herb, harsh hits, and a base that\u2019s uncomfortable to hold due to the heat.<\/p>\n

You may think that I\u2019m being too hard on this since it’s just a budget vaporizer. I disagree, I\u2019m well aware of the price, and there are several options out there that are much better for the money.<\/p>\n

Before you buy this, there are two others that I would recommend considering first. They are the Utillian 420 and the APX Dry Herb<\/a>. The APX is just as cheap as this, but it\u2019s much more portable and the vapor is better. The Utillian 420 costs just a little more, and it’s easily the best sub-$100 cannabis vaporizer that I\u2019ve ever tried.<\/p>\n
