How it Works<\/h3>\n

Like most single-button wax pens, the Kandypens Crystal turns on with 5 rapid clicks of the button. Removing the mouthpiece allows you to load in your wax with the dabbing tool. Three clicks of the same button cycles between the temperature settings, which leads us to the last step.<\/p>\n

Now you have the option of entering session mode by double-clicking. That\u2019ll heat up the atomizer for 10 seconds continuously, or instead, simply hold down the button for as long as you intend to draw from it.<\/p>\n

\"KandypensTemperature Flexibility<\/h3>\n

The Kandypens Crystal Black gives you voltage settings to play around with here. 2.6V, 3.0V, 3.6V, and 4.2V. This is plenty of versatility; however, we\u2019re really disappointed we don\u2019t get complete control for the price we paid. We do say however the settings are well chosen. You could also have a look at the Utillian 5 (V3)<\/a> with its 4-volt settings.<\/p>\n

Vapor Quality<\/h3>\n

The quartz bowl coupled with the glass mouthpiece gives a very pure and tasty flavor. Depending on the voltage setting you use, flavor and cloud production will vary.<\/p>\n

The highest setting produces very mediocre flavor, however, it whips out pretty significant plumes of vapor. The opposite is true for the lowest setting.<\/p>\n

The vapor path is much too short for our liking and the amount of lung and throat irritation is significant, especially at higher voltage settings. Overall, the vapor quality is below what we expected from this pretty pricey device. If you want something more luxurious and amazing to the looks, then the Puffco Peak<\/a> would be a great pick.<\/p>\n

Manufacturing Quality<\/h3>\n

We\u2019re not really impressed with the manufacturing quality of the Kandypens Crystal Black by any means. It feels nice in the hand and it\u2019s well built, but we can\u2019t help but feel like it\u2019s missing \u2018something\u2019. An integrated stir tool, or wax compartment, anything to separate this from the competition. It doesn\u2019t look and feel quite premium, even if the price tag is. If you’ve read any of our Kandypens reviews such as the Special K vape pen review<\/a>, it’s apparent that this is a constant issue with their devices.<\/p>\n

Included in the box is a fairly basic kit that really disappointed us too. It has the device itself, one Kandypens Crystal atomizer<\/a>, a dab tool, USB charger, velvet pouch, and a basic user manual. No cleaning kit, no replacement atomizers, and the carry pouch are very run of the mill basic. Not too impressed here.<\/p>\n

What we like most about it is that the heating rod will easily be removed, which distinguishes the Bolt Pro from systems such as Utillian 2<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\"KandypensBattery Life<\/h3>\n

900mAh. That\u2019s all you get with this device, unfortunately. Not to say that\u2019s a tiny number, but c\u2019mon, they definitely could\u2019ve stuff even double the capacity here. It\u2019s clear they\u2019ve cut costs here in manufacturing and you\u2019ve got to wonder where else they\u2019ve cut costs.<\/p>\n

You\u2019ll definitely get a lot of sessions off a single charge and it does have pass-through charging, though we really expected more at this price point. arguing behavior of a 18650 with a low amp circuit like USB. Portability<\/h3>\n

Beefier and heavier than your average concentrate vaporizer pen<\/a>, the Kandypens Crystal Black still fits quite well in most pockets and bags. If you don\u2019t mind a bit more bulge than normal in tighter pants and the added weight, then it\u2019s alright. A more portable choice that we could recommend to you would be the Linx Ember Kit<\/a>, with its slim design, and small carrying case so that you carry it around with ease.<\/p>\n

We really don\u2019t have much problem with vaporizers this size.<\/p>\n

Ease of Use<\/h3>\n

One-button vaporizers are all pretty easy to get a hang of. Getting quality results with no experience is not an issue and passing it to a friend or stranger for a quick hit on session mode is pretty simple. Not much complexity to this device.<\/p>\n

Cleaning is also pretty simple as its all quartz and glass. A cotton swab soaked in isopropyl alcohol should clean off most of the grime and residue with ease. Just ensure to clean is regularly to keep it running in tip-top shape. The Source Orb 4 PREMIUM KIT<\/a>, with its easy one-button preset, would also be a great option to have a look at.<\/p>\n

Discreetness<\/h3>\n

Looking no different than most e-juice vaporizers, it\u2019s won\u2019t gather much attention at all.<\/p>\n

The Kandypens Crystal is not ultra-stealthy by any means and the smell put out will definitely pique the curiosity of some, though the device itself won\u2019t really raise any eyebrows.\u00a0 Check out the Kandypens Elite<\/a>, which brings in a more premium feel from every hit you take.<\/p>\n

\"KandypensOverall Experience<\/h3>\n

We have to say, we\u2019re pretty disappointed with the \u201c100 units only\u201d Kandypens Crystal. An underwhelming 900mAh battery, barebones accessories, no replacement atomizer, and hot vapor makes this a pass for us. We\u2019ve found similar performance with a better kit from units a fraction of the cost like the Linx Hypnos Zero<\/a>, or Yocan Evolve Plus<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Nevertheless, the performance of the Kandypens Crystal still does benefit from some water filtration so it might be worth checking out the Utillian Glass Bubbler<\/a>, if you’re deadset on picking this wax pen up.<\/p>\n
