ZEUS Thunder 2 vs Pulsar APX Wax

0

The ZEUS Thunder is a sleek wax pen that offers incredibly flavorful vapor from its coilless ceramic dish atomizer. The APX Wax is a hard-hitting mini box mod capable of massive clouds thanks to its triple coil atomizer. Choosing between the two of these may seem hard, but we’re about to pit them against each other in a head to head showdown that will make the decision easy…

Zeus Thunder 2 vs Pulsar APX Wax

Zeus Thunder 2 Heathing ChamberVapor Quality

The Zeus Thunder 2 offers some of the best flavor that you will find from any concentrate vaporizer. It has a coilless ceramic dish atomizer that does an excellent job evenly heating and fully vaporizing the wax you put it.

There aren’t any temperature settings with the Thunder 2, but I would guess that it is calibrated relatively low given how much flavor is preserved. The draw resistance is also good, and the vapor density is above average.

The Pulsar APX Wax has a triple quartz coil atomizer, which delivers impressive clouds considering the size of the unit. If you like big rips that hit hard, you may enjoy this vaporizer.

I greatly prefer the Thunder 2 though, because the vapor from the APX Wax can be harsh and doesn’t have anywhere near the flavor. The experience is much closer to traditional dabs though, which is something many people look for when first transitioning to a vaporizer.

The Thunder 2 is kind of weird in the sense that it is a premium vaporizer without a ton of features. Most vaporizers fall into one of two categories: they’re either cheaply made and don’t offer much functionality, or they’re well made and packed full of premium features. The Thunder 2 falls right in the middle.

It’s made about as well as you can make a vaporizer, but you only get one atomizer option and you can’t adjust the temperature. The advantage of this is that it is extremely easy to use and still delivers fantastic vapor. All the materials are high quality, and the machining is well done.

The build quality of the APX Wax is average, at best. This isn’t designed to be an award winning vape, it’s just designed to work. This isn’t a knock against it, and there is nothing wrong with it based on my experience.

Like the Thunder 2, you don’t get any additional features. It’s just a base that drives a preset amount of power to the triple quartz coil atomizer when you press the fire button.

Using either one of these is as easy as loading the atomizer, turning it on, and pressing the fire button. To my knowledge, you can’t get anything simpler. There are many others that can match them, but none that make the process easier.

The Thunder 2 has an advantage though. The atomizer design is more convenient to load and clean. With the APX Wax, the fast heat up times and triple coils lead to more splatter.

Z-Fuel Thunder 2 BatteryPortability

You’ll have absolutely no problem carrying either of these vaporizers around with you. The APX Wax is shorter overall, but I personally prefer carrying the Thunder 2.

I think the pen-style shape is more comfortable in my pocket, and it is also less noticeable visually, despite the additional height. Again, this will come down to personal preferences. Both of these are extremely portable.

Pulsar APX Wax with USB CableBattery Life

The APX Wax has a slight advantage in this category. While the Thunder 2 has a 650mAh battery, the APX Wax has one rated at 1100mAh. You’d think that this would mean a huge difference in actual battery life, but it isn’t as extreme as the numbers suggest.

I get about an hour of continuous use out of each charge of the Thunder 2 and about an hour and twenty minutes from the APX Wax. Considering these are meant for short dabs, that translates to a lot of sessions from either of these.

In my opinion, the Thunder 2 offers the more discreet experience in most situations. The shape is less noticeable, and the cloud size isn’t anywhere near as big as the APX Wax. There is even less of an odor.

The one exception would be if you already vape e-juice out of traditional box mods. If people are used to seeing you vaping, you could swap the APX Wax in and enjoy concentrates without attracting much attention.

Thunder 2 & APX Wax Tie Temperature FlexibilityTemperature Flexibility

These are both fixed wattage vapes. In other words, you can’t adjust the power or temperature level that these heat up to. The longer you hold the button, the hotter they will get.

An auto-shutoff will protect you from overheating your atomizer. If you care about adjusting the temperature, you’ll have to look at a different vaporizer.

Thunder 2 Showdown WinnerSHOWDOWN

The Thunder 2 is the clear winner of this showdown.

While neither one is very versatile, the Thunder 2 offers a premium experience, while the APX Wax just gets the job done. The biggest advantages of the Thunder 2 are the build and vapor quality. It can compete with just about any concentrate vape on the market in terms of flavor.

Given how similar they are in almost every other category, I would definitely recommend paying the extra money to get the Thunder 2. The price difference isn’t much, but you’ll be getting a significant upgrade.
