Crafty+ (Plus) vs Mighty+ (Plus) Vaporizer Showdown

Updated: October 6, 2023

The vape space has been buzzing as of late thanks to the recent Storz & Bickel announcement and the now current touchdown of the Mighty+ and a whole host of other Storz & Bickel products that are seeing much much needed updates. The Crafty+ also got a refresh so it only makes sense that we give you guys a rundown of their two most popular portable vaporizers available. Which one comes out on top? We already know, but to those who want in, read on down below!

Crafty+ vs Mighty+

MIGHTY+ vapor qualityVapor Quality

Overall flavor quality and vapor production are very similar between the Mighty+ and Crafty+, which is to say that they both do an excellent job at vaporizing dry herb.

Airflow on both devices feels nice and smooth and is neither restrictive nor too free-flowing. The Mighty+ does perform better at higher temperatures especially after a few sessions thanks to its stronger battery.

Consistent heat output at the higher temperature range is something we’ve noticed the Crafty+ to be lacking in especially when it’s internal battery is running out of juice.

MIGHTY+ manufacturing qualityManufacturing Quality

Both the Mighty+ and Crafty+ are absolute beasts in this department and neither really have a leg up over the other as far as durability and integrity is concerned.

The PEEK plastic shell feels great to hold in hand, especially thanks to the serrated fins that envelope both vaporizers that help minimize contact between your palm and the warmer parts of either vaporizer.

The Mighty+ and Crafty+ have both been blessed with an upgrade to the heating chamber that now features a ceramic coating.

While the all aluminum heating chambers on the previous versions of these devices always did a bang-up job, there were always fears of the aluminum oxidizing and corroding so it’s good to see Storz & Bickel finally put those fears to rest.

MIGHTY+ ease of useEase of Use

The Mighty+ takes the cake when it comes to overall ease of operation as the dedicated inputs and digital display make it all too simple to make needed changes on the fly.

The Crafty+ is still great even with its default preset temperatures, make no mistake. But the entire concept of configuring it via an app in order to access it’s precise temperature control has the potential to be a big hurdle to some, especially for iPhone users where the app is not natively available.

If pictures of these two vaporizers side by side are any indication, the Mighty+ is a lot bigger than the Crafty+. While both are technically considered to be portable vaporizers, it’s only the Crafty+ that can be comfortably pocketed while the Mighty+ will need to be relegated to a backpack, purse, or its own carrying case.

Both devices offer convenient charging via the upgraded USB Type-C ports and offer passthrough charging so downtime between charging cycles is a non-issue for those that can’t wait to start vaping.

MIGHTY+ Battery lifeBattery Life

The Mighty+ holds a significant advantage over the Crafty+ with regards to battery life which only seems to be natural considering the large difference in size that the former has over the latter. The Mighty+ contains two lithium-ion cells while the Crafty+ only has one, and therefore the Mighty+ has essentially double the battery life over its smaller counterpart.

While the Crafty+ might last around 4-5 sessions depending on your preferred temperature, the Mighty+ will easily outstrip it when it comes to battery life, lasting for about 8-10 sessions when vaping at approximately the same temperature.

MIGHTY+ Battery lifeTemperature Flexibility

In terms of capabilities, both the Mighty+ and Crafty+ are similar in their temperature ranges and also offer very similar heat up times of roughly 60 seconds which is a nice improvement over their previous 90 second heat up times.

While both vaporizers are capable of offering precise temperature control, it’s only the Mighty+ that lets you do the fine-tuning on the device itself, thanks to its inclusion of dedicated controls and a full digital display that make onboard temperature control a breeze.

The Crafty+ however relies on a single power button for operation and lacks the detailed display that the Mighty+ has. Out of the box the Crafty+ provides 3 preset settings which can be customized via Storz & Bickels app (Apple/iOS users take note that the app has been pulled from the App store so you’ll need to use S&B’s WebApp if you want to configure your Crafty+).

So while the Crafty+ is as every bit as capable as it’s bigger brother, it just takes a few extra steps for it to get there.

Crafty+ vaporizer in handDiscreetness

As far as design language and overall aesthetics are concerned, both the Crafty+ and Mighty+ are loud and proud dry herb vaporizers and neither one will really pass under the radar if you opt to vaporize with either of these devices in public.

The outlandish yet attractive fin-array on both vaporizers are definite head turners although users with larger hands might find that the Crafty+ will be a touch easier to conceal thanks to its smaller size.

MIGHTY+ overall experienceSHOWDOWN

While the Crafty+ is a great dry herb vaporizer on its own merits, the lack of true precise temperature control and having half the battery life of its bigger brother makes the Mighty+ our winner for today.

The Mighty+ simply does everything the Crafty+ does but does it with more consistency and ease thanks to its much larger battery and versatile inputs and digital display.

When it comes to portable vaporizers from Storz & Bickel, the Mighty plus really is the true flagship dry herb vaporizer although we wouldn’t fault anyone for preferring the Crafty plus for its smaller, more pocket friendly size.

For those who are budget conscious, you are going to want to check out the Utillian 722, which offers similar convection heating at a fraction of the cost. You can read our comparison of the Mighty+ vs Utillian 722 here!
