What is a Vapor Cup?

A Vapor Cup is a device meant for vaporizing wax and is composed of 2 main parts:

  1. A Base: Houses the heating element and controls.
  2. A Glass Cup: Meant to hold your vapor.

These portable devices are similar to Desktop Dry Herb Vaporizers as they sit on a flat surface but do not need to be connected to an outlet, thanks to their battery system. That being said, they are much simpler to use than most desktop vaporizers. Vapor Cups are generally known for their ability to hold vapor for users to sip on in a glass, similar to how some desktops hold vapor in a balloon.

What Types of Vapor Cups are there?

  1. Vapor Cup with Glass Cup
  2. Vapor Cup with Hydrator Cup/Bubbler

How does the Glass Cup of a Vapor Cup work?

A Glass Cup is a component of the Vapor Cup that basically functions like a regular glass cup, with the difference that this one holds your vapor without water. As vapor is heavier than air, it will sit at the bottom of the glass, similar to a liquid at the bottom of a Cup.

How does the Hydrator Cup or Bubbler of a Vapor Cup work?

A Hydrator Cup, also called a bubbler, is a component of the Vapor Cup meant to filter & hydrate your vapor with water. The Vapor Fills up in the bottom section of this bubbler, and once ready, the user can take a hit while holding the choker.

How do the Glass Cup, Hydrator Cup, or Bubbler of a Vapor Cup compare?

A Vapor Cup device can utilize both such Glass Cup or Hydrator Cup. Hydrator Cups provide a hit by filtering and hydrating vapor through fresh & cool water, similar to E Rigs. Glass Cups in contrast, are mostly utilized for sipping unfiltered vapor, but are much easier to carry around and maintain, similar to Wax Pens. Most Vapor Cup manufacturers offer both types of Cups, a Glass Cup or Hydrator Cup. If the unit comes with one, the other can usually be ordered separately. Having multiple cups will also enable sessions with friends to be more hygienic and enable people to individualize their Vapor Cup, with added ingredients like fresh mint or lime and the like. Additional Cups allow you to use a fresh Cup while the others are in the dishwasher.

How Do You Use a Vapor Cup?

  1. Place your material into the heating element or screw in your 510-threaded wax.
  2. Press the button 5 times to turn on the Vapor Cup.
  3. Click 3 times per cycle to choose your heat settings; each brand may differ.
  4. Hold the button to push vapor into your Cup, or press the button twice for the autofill function.
  5. Wait for the Cup to fill your glass with vapor, then detach the glass.
  6. Sip on your Glass Cup or take a hit from your Hydrator Cup or Bubbler.

In the case of using a bubbler, remember to add water to the glass piece. Hydrator Cups have a small hole in the side that users can use as a choker; otherwise, the process is the same.

Which one is better for my Vapor Cup, a Cup or Hydrator Cup?

For those that are looking into Vapor Cups for the gradual sipping experience without the pressure of taking a full hit, we recommend sticking to Vapor Cups. The glass cup's design allows the vapor to sit at the bottom of the Cup and provides a very aesthetically pleasing session at your own pace. For those that prefer savoring their waxes and want stronger hits, you might want to consider adding a Hydrator Cup to your device. Most manufacturers have both Cup options, so you can upgrade at a later point in time as well.

How Do You Clean a Vapor Cup?

The Vapor Cup heating element can be cleaned using rubbing alcohol. Just soak it, and the grime will come right off. The Cup itself can usually be placed in a dishwasher. Using grime wipes is very convenient and effective if you want to keep your glass cup clean during sessions or share it with friends. Between sessions, you can put the Cup in a dishwasher, use rubbing alcohol, or a purify cleaning solution.

How Do You Clean a Hydrator Cup or Vapor Cup Bubbler?

When using a bubbler, your Cup will get dirtier quicker since the cool water solidifies some of the extracted wax while in the bubbler. The Hydration Cups will need a Purify Solution or lots of alcohol, as a dishwasher won't be able to do a good job. For extra tough spots, a bristle cleaner will simplify the process.

What kind of 510 threads can I use with Vapor Cups?

The devices were primarily designed to work with their own 510-threaded heating elements. However, many other heating elements that use a 510 thread are also compatible without issue. You should, however, be aware that it is not guaranteed to work with everything that is 510 threaded. In general, 1mg containers work best on these devices.

What Temperature Should I set my Vapor Cup Vaporizer?

Vapor Cups can vary between one another, but they usually tend to offer up to 4 voltage settings, similar to Wax Pens, as opposed to the precise temperature controls that some E Rigs offer. While Wax Pens are meant to be a more portable session option, E Rigs are considered the best in flavor and potency. Vapor Cups, on the other hand, are more relaxed and better suited for sessions with friends. They generally gather a crowd and provide for entertainment, especially when combined with mint leaves, lime slices, and other cool add-ons that people would generally add to a drink.

As explained in our article about the best Temperature setting for vaporizing: the rule of thumb for generating thick vapor is using high temperatures. It is recommended that a fresh load be vaporized with lower temps to enjoy all the nuances in the flavor. Then step to a higher temperature to enjoy all thicknesses of the vapor.

  1. High Temperature (4v+) Best for thick, dense vapor
  2. Medium Temperatures (3v-3.5v) A solid balance, slightly better flavor.
  3. Low Temperatures (2v-3v) Best for high-quality flavourful concentrates.

Vapor Cup or E Rig?

E Rigs are powerful and portable Rig-like devices powered by a battery instead of the old torch method. They provide water filtration for smooth hits and powerful heating elements that produce great-quality vapor. So, why would anybody want anything else? Well, there are a few reasons. First, Vapor Cups are much simpler, easier to maintain, and cheaper. They are also great when friends are over, as one would not have to share Cups. One can also put mint, lemon, and other nice additions to the Cup, making the experience of chilling with a friend more elaborate and entertaining. Another big reason is that Vapor Cups produce vapor that sits inside the cup-formed glass piece; this allows users to sip their vapor at their own pace. E Rigs, in contrast, are known for the strength and amazing flavor profile of the session they can deliver. E Rigs are more suitable for connoisseurs and veterans, while Vapor Cups are crowd pleasers.
