DaVinci IQC vs DaVinci Miqro Comparison

Updated: October 6, 2023

With the brand spanking new DaVinci IQC just hitting the shelves we’ve been rarin up to square it against its older yet dimensionally challenged sibling, the DaVinci Miqro. These two don’t just share a similar design and look practically identical, but have a lot of features in common as well which kind of begs the question “What’s the difference?” Well, wonder no more as we’ll be digging into the meat of these two kindred vaporizers today in our DaVinci IQC vs DaVinci Miqro showdown right down below!

The Smart Paths seem to be the cornerstone of DaVinci vaporizers as evidenced by practically all their recent devices having this feature, the DaVinci IQC and DaVinci Miqro included. It’s very similar to the typical temperature presets found in most vaporizers that lack precise temperature control but the Smart Paths have the benefit of being customisable. With the optional use of a smartphone app that works via hooking up either the IQC or Miqro via Bluetooth, custom temperature presets according to your individual needs or preferences can be saved for easy access.

Both devices operate almost identically, featuring the signature LED grid array that supplants the typical digital display. While the grid array is sufficiently sized in the case of the DaVinci IQC vaporizer, the DaVinci Miqro’s smaller array is significantly harder to read when trying to configure the device in precision temperature mode as the temperature value is displayed via a scrolling marquee within the cramped array. The DaVinci IQC doesn’t have this problem as the larger LED grid array allows you to view the entire temperature value instantly.

Considering that both the DaVinci IQC and Miqro are conduction vaporizers, they do a bang up job of evenly heating your dry herb for a fuller extraction. We feel that the zirconia pearl plays a big factor in this as it heats up with the rest of the heating chamber, creating a more even heating environment for the loaded dry herb compared to the typical conduction oven.

One notable difference though is that vapor on the DaVinci Miqro is a bit warmer and overall less smooth than the vapor produced on the DaVinci IQC, which is something we’re attributing to the shorter vapor path and overall diminished size of the former. For a compact vaporizer, it performs admirably but ultimately pales in comparison to the performance of the DaVinci IQC which yields a smooth vapor with the distinct flavors of the loaded dry herb preserved as it inhaled.

In contrast to most portable vaporizers, the DaVinci IQC and Miqro have the positions of the battery and oven swapped. With the mouthpiece remaining on top and the oven located at the bottom of the device,  the end result is a relatively longer vapor path compared to similarly sized vaporizers in the market.

On the DaVinci IQC, the hinges that seal the battery compartment feel a bit more rigid and offer less play compared to the one found on the DaVinci Miqro. While the DaVinci Miqro uses an aluminum lid, the DaVinci IQC uses high temperature silicone instead which we feel helps diminish the overall heat radiated by the vaporizer for a more comfortable vaping experience.

The exterior finish on both the DaVinci Miqro and IQC is identical as far as we can tell, which is a good thing as it’s one of the hallmark strengths in their vaporizer lineup. Striking a good balance of style, ergonomics, and durability, it’s one of our favorite designs as far as portable vaporizers go and it’s easy to tell that DaVinci knows this as they’ve stuck to this design with all recent vaporizers so far.

Surprisingly enough, the DaVinci Miqro manages to keep pace with the IQC when it comes to the range of temperatures offered. Topping out at 220 degrees Celsius, both vaporizers aren’t lacking in heat and easily rise up to the occasion should you demand it. The precision temperature control on both the DaVinci IQC and Miqro is honestly unexpected as we’ve become accustomed to vaporizers having large digital displays to accommodate this feature. The DaVinci IQC works around this in style with its grid array while the Miqro stumbles a bit thanks to its limited display size which can make selecting your target temperatures a bit of a chore.

While the Smart Paths can be easily configured on either device, we’ve found that they also work great out of the box and already feature optimized temperature ranges that should cater to a good variety of demands. While neither the IQC nor Miqro can vaporize extracts straight out of the box, optional dosing capsules can be purchased that enable wax vaporization.

Given the strong raw output that the DaVinci Miqro produces, it, unfortunately, falls a bit flat in this department compared to the IQC thanks to its much smaller 900mAh 18350 battery. The DaVinci IQC on the other hand manages to keep pace with other brands thanks to its much more powerful 3000mAh battery. Both devices feature batteries that can be easily replaced, however, so the smaller battery on the DaVinci Miqro might not be such a deal breaker considering it’s relatively easy to bring along a spare if you feel like you might need it.

Another advantage that the DaVinci IQC holds over its smaller sibling is its inclusion of a USB C charging port. While the charging times between the two vaporizers remain similar thanks to the differences in their respective batteries capacities, having the ability to charge the DaVinci IQC with the same cable that’s used to charge our smartphones makes it so much more convenient to use and maintain. While the Micro USB port on the DaVinci Miqro isn’t bad per se, it’s just really inconvenient to have to bring a separate cable for it.

iqc kitFinal Thoughts

Given that the DaVinci Miqro is roughly half the cost of the bigger and newer DaVinci IQC, it still manages to offer a great value with its performance that outstrips most vaporizers in its size class. Unfortunately, it does get pretty warm when held in the hand which is mostly thanks to its high temperature output and lack of ability to insulate heat from within the chamber.

The DaVinci IQC offers over triple the battery life, USB-C charging, and an overall superior vapor experience that the Miqro fails to keep up with. The larger grid array on the IQC also makes it easier to use, not to mention it also does a better job at insulating heat than the Miqro, resulting in a more comfortable grip than it’s smaller yet older DaVinci sibling.
