ToQi 510 Threaded Battery Review – A Wireless Battery?

Updated: April 15, 2024

The ToQi 510 thread battery is one of the most affordable additions to the collection of ToQi, a Canadian vaporizer company. It is the company’s first vaporizer and the first wireless 510-threaded battery, released in 2020.

If you’re curious about how the ToQi measures up to other 510 thread batteries, there’s the best 510 thread batteries ranking page you can check out. It’s a complex list made simple that shows where the ToQi sits among its competitors, giving you a straightforward idea of what it’s good at and how it compares with similar products.

So, without further ado, let’s start the ToQi 510 thread review, where we will see how well it is as a portable vaporizer.

How it Works – How to use the ToQi

The ToQi is easy to use and operate. As with any device, we highly recommend charging it fully before your first use – there is a USB-C port at the bottom of the device, and a wireless charger we’re going to get into later.

Here are the basic steps on how to use the ToQi 510 wireless vaporizer :

Step 1: Press the power button 5 times rapidly to turn it on.
Step 2: Screw your preferred 510 cartridges onto the device.
Step 3: Press the power button 3 times to switch between voltage settings.
Step 4: Once you have selected your preferred voltage settings, press and hold the power button to inhale and enjoy.

Note: The indicator light will flash green twice if properly installed. That light will flash red twice when you have removed the cartridge or the connection is not secure.

Manufacturing Quality

The ToQi is built sturdy and has a simple and unique design. I can’t say I’m a big fan of the device’s shape. It feels like they could have condensed the size profile, but we’re going for design points. I’ll give them that; it’s certainly unique. It fits in your hand well, and I must say I like the light in the center.

The design is quite nice, and it definitely feels like time and effort were put into the look of the device. I also like the USB-C charging and the sold-separately wireless charging pad. The whole thing feels futuristic, and there are a lot of design elements in play.

That being said, I would have liked to see housing for the cart so it’s not as exposed. I thought the cart was going to slip into the hole in the middle of the device so you could see your wax level and have it protected, which I think might have been a better choice. Something like the Utillian 50 might be better if that’s an issue for you.

It comes with a decent amount of kit, with an included wall charger, (where have these been? Nice touch, ToQi) a USB-C cable, and a carry bag.

Temperature Flexibility

When it comes to the temperature flexibility, ToQi comes with three voltage settings:

  • 2.6 Volts (Low) -  Cyan LED
  • 3.2 Volts (Medium) -  Blue LED
  • 3.6 Volts (High) – Purple LED

The other thing worth mentioning here is the ability to preheat your hits before inhaling, which should make your draws smoother and give you the flexibility to vaporize a more viscous distillate.

However, if you prefer more voltage settings, the Zeus Ion is a better option. It’s also a more premium looking and feeling unit compared to ToQi. The Ion comes with 4 voltage settings and a 15-second pre-heat mode to enhance your vaping experience.

Battery Life

When it comes to battery life and performance, the ToQi is not the best 510 vape battery. Though it comes with a 400 mAh internal battery, it does not last very long. The new wireless charging feature is attractive, but you need to purchase it separately.

However, the ToQi will charge up fully in about 40 minutes using the USB-C, but ToQi says it will charge to 85% in 25 minutes. You can check your battery life by pressing the power button twice. You will notice three flashes of the respective lights.

  • Green LED – 80%-100%
  • Yellow – 20%-100%
  • Red – 20%-0% (It’s time for a recharge)

However, the wireless Qi charging of ToQi is super slim and works with any device that can charge wirelessly, like the latest iPhones. If you plug it in, it can charge two things at the same time. It will charge your device in roughly the same amount of time (a little slower than a regular 40-minute charge), but it’s a nice touch that I hope gets incorporated into more vaporizers moving forward.

Overall, the addition of wireless Qi charging is something new that you can try. It gives you multiple options to charge your device without worrying about battery longevity.

Ease of Use

The ToQi is pretty easy to use. I’m not going to lie; most 510 thread batteries are super simple to operate without picking up the manual. They’ve stuck to the traditional 5-and-3 standard that many of you will know and love.

5 taps to turn it on, 3 to change voltages, and the ability to preheat your atomizer before inhaling leave the ToQi in a great position in terms of ease of use.

That, plus the charging pad, makes this an easy category to judge. (pun intended)

Portability

ToQi is a pretty portable 510 thread battery but is it the most portable vaporizer in the market? The ToQi is a bit larger than some other small batteries but it’s still easy to carry around because it’s really thin. It’s about the size of a large chocolate bar and super light. The main thing is, the part where you put the oil sticks out at the top, so it’s not as hidden as some other vapes that tuck it away.

If you want something that doesn’t stand out too much, the ToQi might be too noticeable, even though it looks pretty neat, especially in white. If you are looking for a more portable unit, you should check out Litl Bit. It’s a tiny and discreet 510 thread battery. The Litl Bit fits in your hand comfortably and hides it in a public place without any issue.

Overall Experience

There’s a lot to like about the ToQi. The design is certainly the first thing that comes to mind. USB-C charging is a nice touch, and the optional wireless pad gets the job done. For a company’s first foray into the marketplace, it’s an excellent effort. It’s classy, the light system is nice, and it feels like a 510 thread that a businessperson would buy. With that said, you can see how it actually compares to all other 510 thread batteries on the market on our vape pen ranking page and make up your own mind.

The Toqi is convenient in its own way but lacks features that would really wow a Wax enthusiast. If being the light of the party or simply enjoying a new type of experience is important to you, we recommend taking a look at the new Vapor Cups, which are also 510 thread compatible.
