Yocan Uni Pro Plus Review: Affordable 510 Threaded Battery or Cheap Box Mod?

How to Use

The Yocan Uni Pro Plus works similarly to the Yocan Uni Pro by connecting your oil cartridge to the mod using a magnetic adapter. The mod has a 510-threaded platform that can accommodate any size and shape of cartridge. An interesting addition was made to the Uni Pro Plus can adjust the height and diameter of the platform using a slider and a dial on the side and top of the mod. Now, without further a do. Here is how to use the Yocan Uni Pro Plus:

• Step 1: Charge the Uni Pro Plus to 100%.
• Step 2: Connect the 510 cartridge and twist the adapter until you feel resistance.
• Step 3:Slide the Cartridge down into the Chamber until you hear a snap.
• Step 4: Press the main button 5 times to Turn On.
• Step 5: Select the Voltage of your preference using the arrow buttons.
• Step 6: Press Main button 2 times to activate preheat mode.
• Step 7: Inhale after 10 seconds of preheat time.

Manufacturing Quality

The Yocan Uni Pro Plus is very attractive when you first look at it. Upon further inspection, I noticed that the Uni Pro Plus is built with standard plastic and silicone. That said, it is a slight step from the previous version. It features an updated Type-C charging port that is more convenient and durable than the micro USB port of the original model. The battery has also been upgraded to 900 mAh for longer sessions.

The Magnetic connections are quite well thought out and work decently, but that is fairly standard with all magnetic 510 thread batteries. On the other hand, a feature that sets this unit apart is its adjustable height and diameter for better fitting cartridges. This feature is a great idea, but in practice, the adjustable height feature is a bit rigid due to the quality of the materials. 

The Uni Pro Plus offers a dial to adjust the hole diameter when you insert your cartridge, which works significantly smoother than the height-adjusting option. This way, you can ensure it will stay snuggly in place. It also features a slider that will slightly change the height of this same hole so that you can fit both long and short cartridges.

The Uni Pro Plus is made of plastic, so it doesn’t have a high-quality feel. In comparison, the Tronian Tautron feels premium even though it’s a bit cheaper. That said, an OLED display on the Uni Pro Plus shows important details like the voltage, battery level, and preheat status. Overall, it’s a well-designed device with some interesting features to capture the lower end of the market of feature-rich units.

Temperature Flexibility

The Yocan Uni Pro Plus gives you a decent range of Voltage to choose from. You can pick from any voltage from 2.0V to 4.8V in 0.1 increments. This allows you to customize the temperature and strength of your vapor based on your preference and the type of cannabis oils you’re using. To adjust the voltage, you can use the arrow-like buttons on the side of the device and see the exact voltage on the screen.

Higher voltage results in larger amounts of dense vapor, while lower voltage provides smoother and more flavorful vapor. The Yocan Uni Pro Plus offers a good amount of customization.

That said, the Uni Pro does a good job at temperature flexibility when compared to similar box mods for oil cartridges, which usually have only three preset voltage settings and no screen.

Portability

The Yocan Uni Pro Plus is bigger than the original Yocan Uni Pro, although it doesn’t look that way in pictures. The “Plus” refers to its larger size and battery capacity. However, since the appeal of 510 carts is their convenience and compactness, making it bigger and adding a larger battery doesn’t make much sense. These devices rarely run out of battery, so increasing their size to larger than some dry herb vaporizers, such as the LITL 1, is confusing.

It is not the most compact design, and it is far too heavy for a 510 thread, as its as hefty as some compact Dry Herb Vaporizers, which give you much better experiences. To give you a general sense of how small a 510-threaded battery can be, the Tronian Pitron measures about 10.5mm x 80mm.

The Yocan Uni Pro Plus Box Mod has an included stealth mode that turns off the LED indicator and reduces the vibration intensity, making it slightly more discreet. Most of these units are meant to be carried around and used outdoors. The Uni Pro Plus can last for around 120 minutes of continuous use, which is more than most box mods, although im not sure it’s quite worth the extra size.

Battery Life

The Yocan Uni Pro Plus has a 900 mAh battery that lasts longer than the Yocan Uni Pro. It can be used continuously for up to 120 minutes and charges in 30 minutes with a Type-C cable. The mod has an OLED screen that shows a battery indicator, so you know when to recharge and avoid unexpected power loss.

This Box Mod also has power-saving features like reducing brightness after 10 minutes of inactivity and automatically turning off when the battery is low or there’s a short circuit. In comparison, other oil cartridge box mods like the Yocan Uni Pro have a shorter battery life of 400 mAh and no battery indicator.
