Smok X-Force Kit Review – Assembling the X-Force

0
Many of you saw it coming. It was only a matter of time before Smok decided to step their feet into the sub-ohm pod system market. Now its finally here: The Smok X-Force might look like a heavily stylized version of the familiar Joyetech Atopack, but it brings a few improvements to the table. Firing up to a maximum of 45 watts, made possible by the integrated 2000mAh battery, the Smok X-Force packs some decent punch given its tiny size.
Let’s take a closer look at the details of the mod and see why it might be a suitable device for you. Be sure to check the vape buyer’s guides for important information to take into consideration before making your purchase.

Manufacturing Quality

In comparison to the rest of Smok’s lineup, the X-Force can be to considered to be the more minimalist among the bunch. Unlike the Joyetech Atopack though, the overall design is far from mellow.

The two-tone colorways only help to accentuate the bold edges arrayed throughout the mod, giving it that clean yet futuristic look that we’ve come to expect from Smok.

The device itself is exceedingly lightweight but that shouldn’t be confused with a lack of durability. The robust polycarbonate body holds up to regular wear and tear and effectively shields the internals of the mod from the rigors of everyday use.

It’s not shockproof though so I wouldn’t recommend testing the device out by dropping it on purpose to see how much punishment it can take.

Tolerances on the fit and finish on the Smok X-Force are tight. You won’t get any annoying creaking or rattling from this mod, which is a surprise considering its polycarbonate construction. The mod is pieced together almost perfectly and gives off the feeling that its a solid chunk of tech, designed for everyday use. So while it’s not indestructible, that doesn’t necessarily mean that you have to baby this mod either.Smok X-Force available colors

The firing bar on the Smok X-Force is conveniently located on the side just like every other Smok mod. It features a clicky and tactile response when pressed, giving you a good feeling for when exactly the mod starts to fire.

An array of simple LED lights are present which serve as a rough indicator for the remaining charge that the 2000mAh battery has left. The mouthpiece located up top is ergonomically shaped and feels comfortable to use even for extended vaping sessions.

Flavor Quality

Based on the coil design, it looks like Smok has taken a page directly out of Joyetech’s books. The X-Force coil uses an insulated ceramic base, perfect for keeping heat away from the delicate internals of the mod.

This also gives it the added advantage of a quicker ramp-up time due to the fact that heat is channeled more efficiently through the coil, not only providing a better vaping experience but also helping to preserve the battery in the long run.

Rated at 0.3 ohms, the X-Force coil provides a decent balance of flavor and vapor production. While it’s a single coil system, it manages to stay competitive with even the more power hungry setups of Smok’s flagship tanks thanks to its considerably larger size.

While the Smok X-Force kit doesn’t have the option to adjust the airflow to your tastes, the vertical airflow system does a good job of providing enough air without feeling too loose. It’s also surprisingly smooth, without any of the characteristic turbulence or whistling often seen with badly designed airflow systems.

As is standard with pretty much any device in this category, the Smok X-Force doesn’t possess any of the multiple vaping modes and advanced functions that we see in your typical variable wattage box mod. The output reaches a maximum of 45 watts at a full charge and overall power declines as the battery depletes, not unlike how a mechanical mod performs.

To clarify, if you’re looking for features such as variable wattage, temperature control, preheat, or TCR, then the Smok X-Force kit might not be the best option for you.

It does have a basic set of protective features that though that make the entire vaping experience a lot safer for the average beginner such as an 8-second cutoff timer, basic short circuit protection, and a low voltage protection that prevents your mod from firing when the battery can no longer keep up.

Getting the Smok X-Force set up and running is hardly a challenge, even for the most neophyte of vapers. Simply yank out the tank/mouthpiece located at the top of the mod, insert the ceramic coil in the right orientation then you’re good to go.

Once the tank is inserted, filling it up with your e-liquid of choice is a breeze thanks to the easily accessible side filling port which can be found right underneath the mouthpiece. The fill port is adequately sized so you shouldn’t have any trouble fitting your bottle spouts in there.

The tank holds up to 7ml of e-liquid which is convenient for those who dislike refilling their mods frequently. Basic operation of the device is easy as 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 clicks on the firing bar to turn in on or off for easy activation and safekeeping.

Keeping tabs on the remaining battery life can be easily done thanks to the highly visible LED indicators, and charging up the internal battery is a no-brainer thanks to the use of a standard micro USB port.

Portability

With dimensions measuring out to 154 * 82.3 * 81.7 mm (tank and mod combined) the Smok X-Force might not be the most compact kit available in the market today, it’s definitely one of the more powerful and easy to use kits.

Nevertheless, it still easily fits in your standard sized pocket. While the angular design isn’t as streamlined as its direct competitor, the Joyetech Atopack, it’s still comfortable to hold.

The Smok X-Force’s 2000mAh integrated battery might not be the most long-lasting either but it manages to last for a good portion of the day, even for the more hard-core vapers. It definitely won’t match up to the performance of dual 18650 devices or even single 21700 or 20700 battery mods, so definitely keep that in mind when deciding whether to pick this mod up or not.Smok X-Force heating coils

Overall Experience

The Smok X-Force doesn’t have any real flaws to speak of. The lack of features might be considered a con, but then again this is a mod designed for simple and straightforward use. Adding heaps of functionality to the design would only serve to get in the way of that.

With its solid vaping performance, acceptable battery life, and portable/ergonomic design, the Smok X-Force is an easy to use, hard-hitting device that many beginners or even seasoned vapers will appreciate.
