The Micro Vaped V4 is a portable wax pen that looks exactly like a pen. It has six different heat settings and adjustable airflow, plus an atomizer with dual quartz rods and titanium coils. There’s even a glass globe attachment. Let’s take a closer look now. And if this is your first wax vaporizer be sure to check out our Wax Pen Buyers Guide for helpful info and tips.
Review: Micro Vaped V4
How it Works
This works exactly like every wax pen ever. Seriously, if you have ever used a wax pen before, you already know how this works. I’m still going to explain it for all the people out there who haven’t, but there is nothing new going on here.
There’s one button on the entire vape. Clicking it five times will turn the unit on. This has 6 temperature settings, which is actually very impressive. The majority of pens on the market have anywhere from 1 to 3. I’ll talk more about these temperatures below, but to cycle through them, you just have to click the button three times.
Once you’ve chosen a temperature, you just press the button and vape. The auto shutoff on this is set at 30 seconds, which is much higher than most pens. I was always under the impression that the short shutoff times were set to protect the atomizer, so I’d be wary about pushing this to the 30 second limit repeatedly.
You can leave the top looking like a pen or replace it with an included glass globe. The glass globe will deliver slightly bigger and smoother hits, but you sacrifice all the discretion that comes with the pen design.
Like I mentioned above, this has more temperature settings than I’m used to seeing in a wax pen. Those temperature are also considerably lower than I’m used to seeing for concentrates, especially for units that have actual atomizers and not just canisters for conduction chambers. For reference, these are the temperature levels and the corresponding light color that you will see on your device:
- Light Blue = 360°F
- Blue = 380°F
- Green = 390°F
- Purple = 400°F
- Yellow = 410°F
- Red = 420°F
I’m honestly shocked that it maxes out at 420°F. At these temperatures you’ll be getting more hits with better flavor, but they won’t be as dense and it can be more difficult to fully vape all the material before it melts and gets caught in the corners of your atomizer.
The vapor quality is good. The flavor is excellent, and the overall vapor production is better than you would expect for low temperatures. Like I mentioned above, there is an airflow hole that you can open or close that will also help you adjust the vapor to your preferences.
The globe delivers thicker vapor than the standard setup, so that is worth using if you are around the house or anywhere that discretion isn’t important.
The manufacturing quality is average. I’m not saying it’s bad by any means, but there isn’t anything exceptional going on here either.
The atomizer style is the cheapest to make and most common on the market, and the rest of the design is pretty basic as well. I like that they made it look like a pen, but that is certainly no engineering feat.
It’s a good wax pen made out of good materials, but there are many others out there that are just like it.
Ease of Use
This is very easy to use, but once again, that’s just because every wax pen is easy to use. All you have to do is click a button 5 times to turn it on and then click the same button and hold it to engage the heat.
If you want to change the temperature, click the button three times. You already know everything there is to know about using this now.
The one thing that can be a little difficult is cleaning this. You get more buildup than usual because of the low temperatures. At least that’s what it seems like to me.
The Micro Vaped V4 is a good choice if you are looking for a super-discreet wax pen.
That’s where I see the most value being gained from this. The fact that it looks so much like an actual pen, combined with the portability, makes this a vape that can go just about anywhere with you.
If you don’t care if your vape looks like a pen or not, I’d personally recommend looking for something with a newer coil design. I’ve suggested it a lot, but I really like the Thunder 2 for it’s ceramic dish style atomizer. It’s cheaper than this too.
