Vivant Ambit Review – The little toaster that does!
We reviewed the Vivant Ambit, a budget portable vaporizer with some serious power packed inside! With a tiny design, very powerful heater, and wallet-happy price, we were very keen to test it out. Weve tried some devices by Vivant before like the Vivant Rift and Vivant DaBox and while theyve always left us satisfied, weve never been blown away. Lets find out how the Vivant Ambit performs in our review!

Review: Vivant Ambit
How it Works
5 taps to the power button will start the device up, while the appropriate + and buttons allow you to set the temperature. Hold down the button for just 3 seconds to begin heating. Youll want to load up some ground cannabis and very lightly pack it in the oven! You can also click three times in succession to switch between Fahrenheit and Celcius.
Once it heats up, itll vibrate to let you know its ready to hit and enjoy!
Temperature Flexibility
With its OLED display you get full, granular temperature control. This leads to an experience where you can completely control the type of vapor you get from charred and fully extracted to lightly roasted, you get the full spectrum. It being as low as 100°C and ends as high as 230°C (212°F 446°F). They say the device uses convection heating which is true.
At near highest temperatures, some scorching and even burning occurred, so start on the low side and slowly work your way up!
The new users prefer the Utillian 722 that offers similar functionality without ending up burning, hence a smoother vaping experience.
Vapor Quality
Does this little toaster roaster ever hit! Reminiscent of the controversial Grasshopper vaporizer, the Ambit heats up quick and hits equally hard.
Able to clear a bowl in just a couple strong hits, the Ambit really prefers ripping big rather than small sips.
Like the Grasshopper, the vapor from the Ambit can get quite warm but still not as bothersome as the hopper.
The Ambit is no flavour king by any means and if you push it over 200 degrees celsius be prepared for a heavy roasted flavour. Anything over that temperature with the Ambit and you can run the risk of combustion in our tests. The heater is very close to the cannabis, very similar to the Firefly 2+, in fact when you turn the Ambit on you can see the glow from the heater under the screen in the chamber.
If Vivant did a bit more work calibrating the Ambit it could be a good little device, but right now it runs a bit too hot for our liking. Some users may appreciate that, especially those making the switch, but the flavour is lacking.
Manufacturing Quality
We have mixed feelings on the Ambits build, though overall its quite good. It has some decent features like swivel mouthpiece, magnetic assembly, and OLED display, however, the whole unit in the hand still feels a little bit cheap and not quite up to snuff with other units like the Utillian 421.
Included in the box is a basic kit consisting of the device itself, USB charger, packing tool, and cleaning brush. Considering its price point, were not disappointed at all but we recommend picking up the water pipe adaptor for added fun. Some spare screens wouldve been nice to see though!
Battery Life
At a surprising 1500mAh squeezed inside, were quite impressed by the Ambits battery life. You can expect 5 or so sessions depending on usage habits, which is more than fine for a device this puny.
It charges with a typical MicroUSB and tops up within a couple of hours. We wish the battery were removable like the V5 Nano but we understand compromise for a device this tiny.
Portability
Pocket-friendly, the Ambit can really be taken anywhere with minimal feeling in your pocket just like the Zeus Arc GTS Hub.
Ideal for taking out at any point, it should fit in almost any pocket or bag with ease. Lightweight, small, ultralight lovers may enjoy this vape too!
Ease of Use
Simple to use, just load up some cannabis, choose a temperature, and hit it! The difficulty comes in trying to avoid combustion when heating your cannabis at higher temperatures. Users who want a higher temperature range without combustion prefer to get the Utillian 722 Vaporizer.
Cleaning is quite simple, as a cotton swab dipped in isopropyl alcohol will make quick work of any grime and build-up accumulated. Make sure to clean frequently to keep it working in tip top shape, otherwise the performance will drop quickly!
Discreetness
Tiny, portable, handheld and sleek, the quick 2-minute session is ample time to get a few heavy hits and solid rips in before slipping in for a movie or for dinner.
Even though 2 minutes can be considered quick, unlike the Arizer Solo 2 that allows for customizable session lengths up to 10 minutes, the device will put out a pretty big chunk of smell, but beyond that its definitely one of the more stealthy units around.
Overall Experience
The Vivant Ambit has some potential and with some better calibration it could be a really good device and even one of the best cheap vapes available.
The heater is a bit close to the chamber which results in roasted flavour anywhere north of 200 degrees celsius which is unfortunate.
Pushing it higher could result in combustion, which in a vaporizer, shouldn’t happen.
However, the size is great, having precise temperature control is always a welcome feature, and while its not a glass mouthpiece, the swivel mouthpiece does a great job with its ability to be tucked away flush to the Ambit.
Hopefully, we will see another iteration that is better calibrated to ensure the vapor is up to snuff with the rest of the device. If the price is what caught your attention but you are interested in more preserved vapor quality we recommend checking out the Utillian 421 which features a ceramic heater and glass mouthpiece for excellent flavour.
